Greece: Helen made her peaceful journey home on April 1, 2012, surrounded by the love of her husband and daughters. Survived by her devoted and loving husband of 59 years Robert; daughters, Marianne (Thomas) Pastecki, Nancy (Norm) Swanson, Joanne Ristuccia and Janice Fredericks; eleven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Handt. Predeceased by her sisters, Edna Kolb and Shirley Foos. Helen worked in the Sibley’s Men’s department in Greece for 25 years. She enjoyed golf, playing cards, watching birds at her feeders (especially hummingbirds), family gatherings and gardening. Helen was an elegant, poised, gentle woman, wife and mother. Her family will miss her immensely. Thank you to all the compassionate caregivers at Journey Home. They helped make this difficult journey a warm and loving one for Mom, as well as for her family. No prior calling. Her Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 14th, 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers friends wishing may make contributions in Helen’s memory to Journey Home, 994 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626. For more information or to sign Helen’s
Dear Bob and family, Helen will be in our prayers and Masses. She was a sweet person and good friend. I know you’ll really miss her Bob but hang in there. If there’s anything me or Joanne can do to lessen your burden please let us know.
Dear Joanne & Family: My deepest condolences on the loss of your loving Mom. She is now with God and at peace. She will live on forever in your hearts. With Sympathy, Diane
I met Helen and family in November and immediately felt an affection for her. Helen and my mom Ruth Bryce became fast friends, and remarkably they passed the same day. I like to think of them together, walking along hand in hand with their beautiful, gentle smiles. Helen was a lovely lady with a wonderful family.
I’m so sorry to learn of Helen’s passing. I started work as a Sales Manager in Men’s Furnishings at Sibley’s in December 1986. She very graciously gave me a ‘crash course’ in dress shirts right after I started so I knew what my best sellers were during the busiest time of year. Sadly, I lost touch with her and am sure she will really be missed by her family and friends.
