I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I found out too late. I have missed Little Grandma and all of you all these years. I will always regret not being there. I love you.

My entire Whalen family would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Helen’s children. My parents [Bob and Pat Whalen] had seven children and although we couldn’t afford to go out to eat much we did every once in awhile go to Mack’s for ‘chicken in a basket’. Your mother was always running around serving people and always treated us good. My father played pool in the Black Lake men’s league and still talks about the time Kasmer brought in a couple of ringers to beat Dad’s team. Dad’s team not only beat them there was a ‘bit of trouble’ and Helen ended up throwing everyone out. Year’s later when I stopped over to have a Schlitz she immediately recognized ‘Bob Whalen’s daughter’ and insisted I not start any trouble. I had of course never started any trouble but apparently guilt by association was following me. All of my sisters and brothers remember both of your parents and are saddened to hear of Helen’s death. But we are sure that she is with your father and we can hear her giving him a good talking to. Take care and know we will always remember both of your parents. MW

We (George, Nicholas, Kellee, Patrick) and I are very very sorry that we could not be there with all of you. We will really miss Grandma. There are so many wonderful memories of Grandma that I will have to tell Nicky when he is bigger. She will always stay in our prayers. Love to all, Cheryl
