Hi Jane and Jan, I have always found it difficult to find words for family or friends on the passing of a love one. When I thought back to when my Mother joined my Father, the best words of comfort were from family and friends that shared a memory they treasured with her. So I would like to share with you the following in hopes that it will brighten today and the days to come. I never met your father, but I sort of knew him from conversations you both have shared with me over the years. He was a strong willed person who overcame having Polio to live a productive life. It seemed Polio was never an excuse for doing what he wanted or had to do. He managed to survive having 7 daughters, which to me is a feat in itself. I’m not slighting your brother, but lets face it, girls are tough to raise. He seemed to have met each challenge in life and gave it his best shot. We all face challenges in our lives. Both of you are very much like your Dad in that you have come up against some very tough challenges in your lives. You have stayed strong and never give excuses. You find ways to overcome the challenge. So while your Father has now joined your Mother, know he has taught you well and is still with you everyday just by your actions. Take a moment every day and say ‘Thanks Dad, I know your with me’.

Very sorry that I missed Gordon’s calling hours. Gordon lived with my family when he was about ten years old. He and my brother Charles LaForce went to No. 5 school together. Charles had a bad case of scoliosis which at his age of 41, doctors decided that he had had polio at about 2 yrs. of age. But I always remembered Gordon and never had contact with him. He certainly had a long life and a nice family. My very best wishes to his family. My husband, Donald, and I live in Webster, phone 347-4966. Would like to hear if he ever talked about those times with us. Sincerely, Rose.
