Florence Tripi “Flo” Greece: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Florence “Flo” Tripi, at the age 79. Flo passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital, amid her family, after a battle with cancer. Born; August 7, 1938 to Joseph A. and Phyllis (Bonavilla) Tripi she was the oldest of their four children. At the age of 16, she graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1955. Directly after high school she attended Rochester Business Institute and received an Associates Degree as a medical secretary. She worked in the medical field including U of R. On July 8, 1968 she was hired by Monroe County Health Department and became interested in workers rights. In the 1970’s she began advocating for members and by the 80’s she was serving in leadership positions including President of CSEA Monroe County Unit and Local 828 as well as served on NYS AFL-CIO and other community & work related boards. She was a member of CSEA (Civil Service Employees Association) and became Regional President in 2000 where she has served in that capacity for the past 18 years, retiring in 2018, with exactly 50 years of service. Although Flo never married she was united to her job but always believed in Family First. She is survived by her brother, Salvatore J. Tripi and sister-in-law Carol; brother-in-law David Bulterman Sr.; two nephews: David Bulterman Jr. and Joseph A. Tripi, Esq.; five nieces: Terri Ann Tripi and her fiancé Dennis Cuccurullo, Dara Oliver and her husband Kevin, Nicole Henry, Gina Tripi, and Shannon Petch and her husband: Stu. 17 great-nieces and nephews, several cousins, many friends, and all of her CSEA members who loved her so dearly. Flo was predeceased by her parents, her sister Sylvia Bulterman and her brother John Tripi. She was a proud member of The Italian-American Community Center and will be remembered as a true community activist who loved her family, her work and the New York Yankees. Friends may call Sunday (July 22nd) 3-8 PM and Monday (July 23rd) 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday (July 24th) 10:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any M&T Bank to the “Flo Tripi Memorial Scholarship Fund” through CSEA in her memory. My Deepest Condolences to the Tripi Family! Flo will be greatly missed yet she worked so hard for many years helping others and fighting for what is right. I had the pleasure of meeting her over the years and greatly appreciated her many contributions to CSEA Union making it a better place for all. She was one in a million but she is at peace now.
So very sorry to the Tripi family for your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Flo many times through work and socially. I always truly enjoyed speaking with her. My daughter received a scholarship years ago from CSEA, and Flo was there to present it to her. A year later, my daughter and I went to lunch with Flo to update her on what my daughter was doing. What a truly special person she was. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and extended family. May wonderful memories help to ease your pain. Her contributions to CSEA will forever be remembered!
Thoughts and prayers to all of Flo’s family and her dear friends in the labor movement. I am so proud so proud to have had the chance to work with her and have her as a friend.
Like so many people my wife Brenda and I were friends with Flo. We met Flo while working for the County. Her passion for the worker and for fair treatment was obvious. And as every year went by we saw how crucial her job and passion were for the worker. At every picnic, event, union meeting and chance encounter like at Holy Name Parish, you could see the love and support those around her gave her. When she talked to, and she always remembered your name, she made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. When you got invited to the house or to a picnic you never ever went hungry! We have not met anyone like her ever and likely will not. We will miss her something terrible. Our good thoughts and prayers to Flo’s family and friends.
What an immense loss, and not just for the CSEA community from which I knew her, but for humankind. Flo’s character was second to none. She would always greet you with a smile, and I swear she would never forget a name. And her passion and commitment are truly something to emulate. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time. Flo will be greatly missed.
Always friendly, extremely knowledgeable and always – always defended her workers. As a former VP of the MCDSA (1988-1996) I had the opportunity of picking Flo’s brain on labor issues on several occasions. She always took the time to listen and advise. She will be missed by all and while someone make take her place – she will never be replaced. County Management is probably breathing a sigh of relief. May she rest in peace.

Have not seen Flo in years, but thought of her often and always remember her infectious laugh. She is flying with the angels.
My family and I loved and absolutely adored Flo. We were a part of her ‘baseball family.’ We will so miss her calls, texts, and having lunch with her–both at spring training and in Rochester/Buffalo. She always had us laughing. She has always been so supportive of my husband’s baseball career, showed my infant son so much love, and was such a joy in our lives. I can’t begin to explain how much the entire Venditte family will miss her. We are so sorry for loss. Our family is sending so much love to yours at this difficult time.

I always called her “Aunt Flo†She was my mother’s BFF in high school and my godmother. As a kid I loved going to the doctor’s office just to see Aunt Flo. I remember her white uniform and hat, just like the old movies. A big smile and bigger hugs were always given as freely as the lollipops. We would visit her at her dad’s house and always be welcomed by her entire family with a genuine love that made it one of my favorite places to go. She carried that genuine love and caring with her throughout her lifetime. She loved what she did for a living because it helped so many people in so many ways. I am blessed to have been a part of her life.
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Flo. In the early 1980’s I knew her when I worked in the Labor Relations Department of Monroe County. Although we were on opposite sides of the table, she was always friendly and I respected her for her dedication to those she represented. She had a friendly smile and upbeat personality. I trust she is reaping abundant joy now. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
We saw this obituarie and are reacting with sadness. Both of us are still members of the Monroe County union (Now as retirees) and have been for 50 years or more. We had many interactions with Flo and remember her with great fondness. Please give our deepest sympathy to her family. We consider Flo a friend.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Flo gave us so much of her time and energy to our CSEA union and will be dearly missed. At our last meeting, she didn’t show any sign that she was ill. She was a tried and true friend to us all.

Hello, Flo was a very nice lady and friend. We at St. Andrew’s School were in several classes with her. We all graduated in 1951. She will be in our prayers for ever.
I first met Flo when I started working for the County in 1992. She was something! She really took care of us CSEA members. She will be so missed by all who knew her.

I am so sorry to hear about Flo. I always considered her a friend that I have known since early 1980’s when we both served on CSEA board of directors. We had many discussions in supporting the members of CSEA over the years and our only difference was that she was a Yankee fan and I was a Met fan; led to some interesting conversations. Flo may have been short but she will always stand tall to us all RIP

I am so sorry, I just heard of Flo’s passing today. Flo was a great and genuinely caring union leader and friend. She taught me a lot and supported many of my ideas and causes. I last spoke with her only a couple months ago and she was home sick at the time. I had no idea how sick, she really didn’t complain, just said she was tired and we’d talk later. My sincere condolences to her family. She will be missed.
