Rochester: Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at age 90. Predeceased by her first husband, Walter Thran; second husband, Clifton E. Ashbaugh, Sr.; grandson, Robert D. Ashbaugh. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Richard (Mary) Thran, Don (JoAnne) Ashbaugh, Cliff (Diane) Ashbaugh, Joyce (Alfred) Marciano, Janet Ashbaugh, David (Laura) Ashbaugh, Diane (David) Briggs, all of Rochester. Ethel has 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lillian Guthiel; as well as many deeply loved members of her extended family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is a source of courage, strength and inspiration to her family and will be greatly remembered. The family will receive friends to share memories Sunday 1-4 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 4 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment held at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hildebrandt Hospice.

Grandma Ethel was a very special person and always treated the Stefani boys as they were her own grandchildren. I have very warm memories of Grandma Ethel and will cherish them. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone in her family. I was very fortunate to have meet Ethel in lifes path. She was a dear lady and loved by all. I will keep your family in my prayers as you mourn her passing.
