Elizabeth Catherine Allardice

Elizabeth Catherine “Betty”  Allardice passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Wegman Cottages at Unity Health in Greece. She was 96.

She was born on August 1, 1926, in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Edward Wurtz and Marie (Schwenzer) Wurtz. After attending Holy Rosary School, she graduated from Nazereth Academy in 1944 and began working at Distillation Products Industries, a division of the Eastman Kodak Co. On April 30, 1949, she married Gordon David Allardice. The couple moved to Greece in early 1950s and raised four children on Verstreet Drive. Elizabeth returned to DPI in the 1970s and worked there as a lab technician until her retirement. Mr. Allardice died in September 1981 and Elizabeth remained in their home until 2013. During retirement Betty enjoyed traveling, golf, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

The survivors include: her four children; Glenn (Barbara), Sharon Aman, Mary Goeltz (Raymond) and Scott (Kathleen); seven grandchildren, Lori Tiller, Eric Allardice, Jason Aman, Michele Patterson (Jake), Brian Goeltz (Erika), Ian Allardice and Margaret Allardice; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours and family plans a private graveside ceremony at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to Journey Home Inc., 994 Long Pond Rd., Rochester, NY, 14626.
