Elizabeth “Betty” (Gyrisko) Perreault, 92, of Greece passed away on Feb. 5, 2021 at Latta Road West Nursing Home in Rochester, NY. She was a resident of Western NY for many years. Formerly of South Hadley, Massachusetts, she was predeceased by her parents, siblings and husband of 53 years, Roger R. Perreault. She was a 1945 graduate of South Hadley High School and attended the former Westfield State Teachers College. In Massachusetts, she worked for a time at Daniel F. Waters Bookstore in Holyoke and was employed for 39 years by Weight Watchers, Inc. She was active with the Girl Scouts, and received the Thanks Badge, the highest adult award in Girl Scouting for outstanding service above and beyond the position held as a volunteer. She is survived by her daughters: Patricia (William) Bennett of Lewes, DE, Gail (Richard) Oparowski of Millsboro, DE and Sue (James) Bonafini of Rochester and Kendall, NY; four grandchildren: Beth Oparowski, Jon (Lindsay) Oparowski, Jiffy (John) Vermylen, and Anna Bennett (Eliot Hill); five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. A private burial will take place at St. Rose Cemetery in South Hadley, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, Betty’s wish was that a donation to the American Cancer Society be made in her name.     We are very sorry to hear about Betty’s passing. Betty was our Mom’s roommate at Latta Rd W and she was such a joy. We used to share chocolates and special treats with her. She would wave to us at our window visits and I even took pictures of my Mom and Betty together two weeks ago through the window. We loved her but most importantly our Mom did. Fly high Betty you will be missed. And thank you for being such a kind and loving roommate to our Mom The Marron Family

    We always smile when we think of Betty. She was so friendly to everyone and always a welcoming presence whatever the setting. She would chide Roger on his daily scratch ticket purchases but he, too, loved her so much. Our condolences to her daughters.

    We are so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. She was one of Brian’s favorite Subaru customer’s and she always made cookies for our family around the holiday’s. She always gave a little something to our sons when they were little. We enjoyed sending a Christmas card to her every year, thank you for letting us know where she was. We will miss her.

    I was a neighbor of Betty and her husband Roger for many years on Camden St and two of the nicest neighbors you could ever ask for. After Roger’s passing I tried to repay Roger’s kindness, he used to snow blow the end of our driveway while we were enjoying the snow skiing, so I would always try to help Betty out with clearing her driveway, changing light bulbs in the stair wells, fixing her dishwasher issues or however I could help her. I remember her saying that I was over the house so often helping her she worried the neighbors would talk, no worries I told her I would tell them she was my girl friend, she and I would share a laugh over that. I was so sad that eventually she had to sell the house and move out to NY to be close to her daughter there as she got older and her eyesight started to fade. Betty was such a lovely lady and always brightened my day every day. Sue, Gail and Patty and your extended families I send my deepest sympathy on you Mom’s passing but in all of you I see her and Roger live on. You are all awesome and I hope time makes her passing easier on you, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know I will always look back fondly on the memories of my favorite two neighbors. Rest in peace Betty now that your reunited with Roger.
