Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

Beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and cherished friend. Elaine went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025, at the age of 66.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Piazza Sr., sister, Roseann Piazza and sister-in-law, Lisa Piazza.

She is loved deeply and survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald Hartfiel Sr. Her beloved children, Kari (Chris) Atwood, Ronald (Allison) Hartfiel Jr., and Denise (Jeremy) Hill. Her cherished grandchildren, Isabella and Angelina Pedreira, Jacob and Lucas Hill, Avery and Ryker Hartfiel. Her loving family: sisters, Ann (David) Oliver, Marie Piazza (Richard Wright), Carmella (Kenny) Trebbe and her brother, Charles Piazza Jr. Father and mother-in-law, James and Bonita Hartfiel, sisters-in-law, Vicki (David) Cobb and Beth Hartfiel-Balestiere, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whose lives she greatly touched.

Elaine’s greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her husband (aka her honey). It was life’s simple pleasures that brought them happiness. She embodied the best of qualities- unconditional love and an unending generosity that could be seen in the way she cared for her family and friends. She brought warmth and comfort into every space, making her house a true home where her husband and her children were nurtured, supported and loved. Her heart was full when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. They are her legacy and greatest pride. Elaine loved animals, cooking meals that brought everyone together, long phone conversations, Sunday football- especially cheering on the Buffalo Bills, playing euchre and trips to the casino to play keno. These were the moments that made her smile, laugh, and truly enjoy life.

Elaine’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Friends may call Monday (January 5th) 4-7pm at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday (January 6th) 10:30 am at Calvary Chapel of the Westside, 2407 South Union Street, Spencerport, NY.

Such a shock to hear this about my wonderful cousin. Still remember her trip to California in 1988 and my visit to Rochester in 2005. I grieve for her siblings/my other cousins and children. I know how close you all are in New York. I often talk fondly of having an authentic Italian experience in 2005 since her Uncle Sam Piazza/my father was mostly detached from the culture in California. Rest in peace sweet Elaine. Love Matt Piazza

My heart goes out to your family. The love you all shared was the how to do family perfectly. Always made me feel like family when we would have our Princess House Parties. I was praying and believing for the perfect outcome with this transplant surgery. It wasn’t to be. Such a strong woman, fighting to the very end. I know her fight was more for her family than herself. How she loved unconditionally. A warrior. A mother, grand mom, sister, and an amazing friend. Until we meet again in the glory called Heaven rest in peace my sweet lady. Bask in the beauty of our Saviors presence.

Ron please know I meant to put Husband in my post. Having lost my husband in 1999 I fully understand the pain of your loss. Knowing Christ is a blessing on a normal day, but now His presence is all that carries you in the moments when you are alone. When all have gone home, when the hours seem so long, He will be your hope. I am and have been praying for you. May the peace and comfort be with you that only He can give.

My sincere condolences to you and your entire family. Although I didn’t personally know your mom, I know her amazing daughter, Denise, and through her it’s clear she was raised and nurtured by loving, caring parents. With over 21 years of friendship, my heart truly goes out to you during this incredibly difficult time of losing your mom. I know firsthand the deep pain that comes with the loss of a parent.

As we navigate this new normal, may you find comfort in knowing they prepared us for life in ways that continue to guide us. Be comforted by the love of Christ during this time. Cherish and love those still with you, and allow her beautiful legacy to live on.
