Greece NY, passed away in his home at the age of 93 on Sunday, September 21st, 2025. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen A. Schiffhauer, his parents, Earl William Schiffhauer & Eleanor Weins, and Mother-in-law, Geraldine Anderson. He is survived by his children, Earl M Schiffhauer (Pam Schiffhauer) & Lynn Schiffhauer Vaccaro (Tim Herrington); siblings by, David Anderson (brother-in-law) and Jeanie Fabozzi (Sister-in-law) (Nicholas Fabozzi). He is also survived by many grandchildren: Jessica Schiffhauer, E. Michael Schiffhauer (Ariel Zeig), Adrienne Vaccaro Stierhoff (Drew Stierhoff) & Christopher Vaccaro Jr. as well as a great-grandchild, Maeve Ela Marie.
Earl was a trail blazer in both his professional and personal life. He served in the US Army, before embarking on a very successful career at Eastman Kodak. At Kodak, he was a Professional Engineer and held an important role as the Unit Director, in the Department of Architectural & Engineering Services. He was an innovator in fire suppression systems and life safety, earning many awards and accolades. He was well loved by all of his colleagues, who gave him the (perhaps sarcastic) nickname “St. Earl”. In his free time, he spent countless hours literally blazing trails on his property in Redfield NY, exploring and caring for the land. At home he was a loyal husband to his wife of 70 wonderful years, Kathleen, and a loving father to his 2 children.
Family & Friends may call Thursday (Sept 25th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (Sept 26th) 11:00 AM at St. Marks Church, Kuhn Road. Interment, in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the National Kidney Foundation in his memory.
Uncle Earl will be greatly missed, may he rest in peace and be with Aunt Kathy.
