Douglas H. Payne “Peanut” Greece: Thursday, March 12, 2020 at age 73. Survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Paula Payne; brothers, Ron (Sherryl) Payne, David (Mary) Payne; sister, Diane (John) DeCarlo, Ellen Infantino; brothers-in-law, Gordie (Kathy) Williams, Rick (Linda) Williams, Doug (Flo) Williams; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Ellen, Diane, David and Ron: Was so sad to hear about Doug…he always had a smile and a joke for me whenever I saw him. May he rest in painless peace. You are all in my thoughts. With sympathy.
I am so very sorry to hear of Doug’s death. I knew Doug from many years ago at Adeline Playground, CHS, and in the 1970s when he worked at the gas station on Dewey Avenue across from Northgate Plaza/Britton Road School. That was my young daughter’s favorite gas station because Doug would always fuss over her and make her laugh. She still remembers him to this day because of his kindness. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Doug’s family and friends! You now have an angel watching over and protecting you!

We remember all the great times our families had in Florida and Kodak picnics and just being together. Dougie will always be remembered as fun and always in the thick of things. Great memories. So sorry for your loss.

Dear Dougie, Where to begin to talk about a lifetime with someone? I remember the fun we used to have when our parents used to visit each other. We got into so much mischief usually at your instigation. Then there were the Florida days. So memorable for the comraderie and fun. Remember the Baghdad? You, me, Ellen, and later Davey. The ocean, our water rafts, the pool games where we were always practically drowning from the roughhousing, and squabbling over who was going to walk the owner’s dog. One particular incident when were chasing around in the parking lot (where we were not supposed to be) and you got caught on a car with a broken taillight and ripped your hand open. Your dad and my dad(“Uncle” Willard, alias Colonel Kodak”)had to take you to Hollywood hospital. You wound up with stitches and couldn’t go in the water anymore for the rest of the vacation. Big Bummer, but you still were a big teaser to Ellen and me, and great with the one liners and jokes. Our Go Fish card games got really intense. These are my memories of our time together that I will never forget. God bless you and give you peace and comfort. To Diane, Ronnie, Ellen, and Davey . . . You remain friends forever and to Paula,may you get some comfort from the memories we all have of Dougie and his zaney self, the self that we all loved.

To Dougs family, so sorry to hear of your loss of Doug. Although it has been awhile since I last saw Doug I will always remember him as a great person and friend.
