Greece: Went to Our Lord Monday, August 24th, 2026 at the age of 76. Predeceased by her father, Donald Bills; mother, Marjorie Bills (Graves); sister, Sharon LocmannVan Bennekom (Hans). Donna was also a widow to Timothy King as well as James Crowley. She leaves her loving partner, Elwin Schmitz; daughter, Melissa Effinger; son, Timothy King; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donna graduated from John Marshall High School. After performing motherly duties and caring for her family she earned her degree from Monroe Community College and became a Registered Nurse in 1988. She worked eight years at Park Ridge Hospital before serving in multiple capacities at Rochester School for the Deaf. In 1998 she joined the Unity Health Genesee Campus as a charge nurse in their inpatient Psychiatric Unit where she found her life’s calling. Upon moving to Medina in 2001, she became Program Director of Continuing Day Treatment for the Orleans County Mental Health Department. After two years she returned to psychiatric nursing at Unity Health, later serving as a nurse therapist at Evelyn Brandon Health Center.
Donna was a prayerful Christian with a deep faith and love in the Lord. She was known for her kindness and generosity. In all ways she was a caring and loving person. She was active in her neighborhood bible study group, supplemented by daily readings and meditation. She was an avid shopper, often buying gifts for others. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her plants and flowers. She liked to travel, play at casinos, and go to lunches with her many friends.
Friends may call on Saturday (September 12th) 1-4 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, where her Memorial Service will follow calling at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Story of Hope Comfort Care Hospice in her memory.
I am very saddened by Donna’s untimely death, and will trully miss her.
To Donna’s children,grandchildren, Al and all who were close to Donna, i am confident she is now in the care and comfort of our dear Lord. It is time for her to rest in peace.
