Greece: Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at age 85. After a courageous battle with brain cancer, Don was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley Mae Dietschler and infant son Richard. He is survived by his companion Shirley Dickerson; daughters, Susan Wasserman, Nancy Rogers; grandchildren, Brian and Rachelle Wasserman, Jason and David Wergin and canine companion ‘Maggie’ (Daddy’s girl). Don was a veteran of the United States Navy, worked for Taylor Instrument and retired from Eastman Kodak Park, he volunteered with the Cando Club, a member of the Masonic Temple and Greece Baptist Church. Don enjoyed square dancing and will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Lifetime Care/Hospice for all their love and support. Friends may call Friday, March 9th 1-4 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece, NY. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel following visitation at 4PM. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to ABVI, 422 S. Clinton Ave. Rochester, NY 14620.
