Donald Leo Gurnett of Webster, NY, known to his loved ones as Don, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 69 in Oranjestad, Aruba. He was born April 19, 1954, in Rochester, NY, to his late father Donald and mother Mildred. Don was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many. He had a magnetic personality, and was friends with everyone he met. He was a devoted husband of 47 years, cherishing his wife Judy, and a loving father to his son Jason and daughter-in-law Melissa. Don’s greatest joy in life was being Papa to his grandchildren, Danny and Giuliana. Don had a passion for golf, hunting, fishing, wine, and cars, indulging in these hobbies whenever he had the chance. He loved the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Don dedicated 41+ years of his life to his career as a Supervisor at RGE. Visitation in honor of Don Gurnett, will be held on Monday (October 9th) 4-7 PM at the Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home. Family, friends, and acquaintances will gather to pay their respects and share memories of Don’s remarkable life. Don’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, (October 10th) 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church in Webster, NY. He will be laid to rest eternally at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Don will be deeply missed by his wife Judy, his son Jason and daughter-in-law Melissa, his grandchildren Danny and Giuliana, his brother Carl Gurnett (Kim), his sisters Ann Socola, Kathy Brown (Bill), and Carrie Davenport (Mike), brother-in-law Tony ‘Nini’ Ferrara (Bernie), brother-in-law Gary Ferrara, brother-in-law Joe Ferrara, and sister-in-law Marie Marr. Several nieces and nephews and very close friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories. My most sincere condolences to Judy, Jason, Melissa, Danny and Julianna. Donny, you were the first person I met when I transferred to RG&E, I remember that day well. You were a great mentor to me but an even better friend. I will forever cherish our friendship and especially our wonderful evenings at Hedges with Judy and Michelle.
