Darlene Ruth Goodchild

Rochester: Darlene Ruth Goodchild, 84, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on March 2, 2026.  She passed away at her childhood home in Rochester, NY, with her loving daughter, Karen Doremus, by her side. Born June 8, 1941, in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Richard and Ruth Goodchild, both of whom preceded her in death.

Darlene met the Lord in her early thirties & loved the Bible & learning about Him.  She was also an avid reader on many topics.  She was known for her quick wit & her ability to make people laugh, even at her own expense.  She was sincerely loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.  However, we are happy that she is out of pain & where she has longed to be… with the Lord.  She had recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer and had expressed that she felt very ready to transition to her eternal home.  

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Karen Doremus and her brother Jack Goodchild (Vicky).  She also had many nieces & nephews who loved her dearly; Tim Goodchild (Rebecca), Kimberly Visser (Lou), Stephen Goodchild (Heather), Laura Bandi (Steve), Michelle Hunt (Andrew), and Katie Goodchild (Brian); and by many “great”-nieces and nephews.

The family had a private graveside burial in White Haven Memorial Park.

She would want everyone to remember this:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
