Greece: Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Loving wife and mother. After a long illness, surrounded by her family. Survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Harold; daughter Shannon; sons, John (Anna), Dan (Carla Danesi); daughter, Melanie Gallo; granddaughter, Leah Crown; sister and brothers; many nieces and nephews. She was a long time volunteer and employee of Spencerport Central School District. Darkiss was born in Ridgway, PA, making Rochester her home in 1968. The family would like to thank her many caregivers at Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital over the years. Friends may call Sunday (July 23rd) 1-3:00 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road where her Prayer Service will be held Sunday 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Private Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Golisano Children’s Hospital or Lifetime Assistance, Inc. in her memory.     I was just thinking about her the other day wondering how her and her family were doing. Harry and kids….I have the fondest memories of your family and the time I spent there during summer’s when in high school. God bless you all as you gather together to celebrate her life and legacy.

    Dear Harry and Family: I worked with Darkiss for many years and never saw a person more determined and strong. She gave so much to so many with an incredible work ethic. We shared many laughs together. She will be greatly missed. Deepest condolences.

    Harry & family- I was so very sad to hear the news about Darkiss. We had many good times and laughs @ Taylor School through the years and after I left there, it was our lunch or dinner dates along with Rose. She wil be missed! With sympathy, Joanne Dorofy
