Greece: Daniel Fitzgerald, a long-time attorney, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2010 at the age of 83. Born and raised in Rochester, he attended Aquinas Institute where he played on the varsity basketball and football teams. Immediately after graduating from Aquinas in 1944, Mr. Fitzgerald went into the United States Navy where he fought in World War II. After being discharged in 1946, he attended St. Bonaventure University and then Albany Law School. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1951. He practiced law in the Rochester area with the law firm he founded with his father, Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald, for 58 years before retiring in 2009. During his many years of practice, Mr. Fitzgerald represented thousands of clients in matters involving Wills & Estate Law, as well as Family Law. He was also a longtime member of the Monroe County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association. In 2001, he was honored by the Monroe County Bar Association for his dedicated 50 years of professionalism in the practice of law. Mr. Fitzgerald was an avid reader, a sports enthusiast, and devoted fan of the Syracuse Orangemen and the Buffalo Bills. He was also a long-time member of Brook-Lea Country Club where he could often be found enjoying a round of golf with family and friends. Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Deborah. He was also the proud father of his 10 children: Julie Fitzgerald, Darcy (Rob) Durfee, Kate (Ray) Springer, Daniel (Nikki) Fitzgerald, Christopher (Christine) Murphy, Sean (Hannah) Murphy, Sara Lavan, Erin Lavan, Brendan Fitzgerald, Colin Fitzgerald and twelve grandchildren. Friends may call Monday 4-7 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 10:00 AM at Spiritus Christi Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St. Interment, Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spiritus Christi Church in his memory.     Dan was a remarkalbe man who made many people’s lives better for his work in his recovery program. He never forgot where he came from and continued to be a living example of heroism, faith and continued sobriety. May his Higer Power hold him in his arms and may he continue to send his spirt unto those who still struggle.

    Danny will be greatly missed at the 10 a.m. coffee cloche at the Rochester Stock Exchange Restaurant. I appreciated 20 years of friendship, wit, and wisdom. I cannot tell you how sorry I am for our loss.

    I have great memories of Dan from Aquinas days. He was several years behind me but I remember his athletic skills and great personality. It has been a long time but he was an unforgetable friend. My prayers are with all of the family. Peace!!

I appreciated all the wonderful times and friendship together whether at Brook- Lea or in business……..Ill truly miss his warm and sincere approach to life’s challlenges and his christian principles.
