Bassett, P.E., Charles Frederick ’Chuck’ Greece: 89, born September 4, 1926, in Ames, IA. Survived by sons George (Ruth) Bassett, Richard (Sallye) Stutzman, David (Margaret) Stutzman, James Charles (Barbara) Bassett, and Robert Ray (Tammy) Bassett. Husband of Rita (nee Ames) Bassett and two deceased wives, Alaine (nee Bushfield), and Carolyn (nee Chesnut). Also survived by siblings James Robert (Judy) Bassett, Florence (Bill) Hinckley, Margaret Viccari, and Jean Kinyon. Grandfather of 18; great-grandfather of 19. Chuck served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy in WWII and Korea. He became an engineering supervisor at Kodak Park, retiring at age 56, after 31 years of service. He was active in the Instrument Society of America, where he was an international Vice President. He was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church, now Journey Christian Church. Beloved of family, church members, and friends, Chuck’s humor, generous spirit, and deep faith touched all he knew. Friends may call Friday (April 1st) 5-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday (April 2nd) 10:00 AM at Journey Christian Church, 3955 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment, Riverside Cemetery. Chuck was the ultimate servant of the Lord. I served along side him on the Board of Directors at Rochester Family Mission for several years and also on an Executive Director Search Team. I looked forward to our summer board meeting at his Honeoye Lake house, which always included a ride around the lake in his boat!
Chuck also served with Flower City Work Camp, scouting out the work sites prior to each camp. I looked for him standing in the rear of both the morning and evening sessions with his smiling face watching all those kids being enthused about their faith. He talked about the investment being made in the lives of the next generation.
When he prayed, you knew you were in the very presence of God. His faith in God permeated every conversation he had and was so very obvious to all who knew him. There aren’t many Chuck Bassetts in this world. I am honored to have known him.

Chuck was a wonderful man of God! We remember his love and enthusiasm for our church missionaries, his willingness to come alongside a fellow believer and fast and pray for that person, his sense of humor, his leadership of the retiree group and the amazing serving times that they shared, etc. We will miss you Chuck and know that you are finally in the presence of our beloved Savior!
