Catherine, a matriarch, was a homemaker as well as a worker at Loblaws and Bausch & Lomb. She worked to help support her family, as she always wanted to provide her children with the things she was never able to have in a difficult childhood and early adult life. More importantly was the love she had for her family as mentioned above. She was a devoted wife to husband, Mario for 65 years and upon their retirement, enjoyed a yearly vacation in Las Vegas for a month at a time spent with other family members. She also loved the Bahamas, which most of her family celebrated with her on their 50th wedding anniversary and the engagement of her granddaughter.
As a true matriarch, she was pretty sharp to the very end and passed away peacefully with no regrets. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wolff, the staff at Atria Assisted Living, and Strong Memorial Hospice for all their excellent care and love shown to Catherine.
No prior calling. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday (Dec 17th) 10:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, NY. Entombment, Riverside Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make contributions may do so to the Veterans Outreach Center, 447 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620 in her memory.
To the family of Catherine Sorge: Extending my heartfelt condolences and prayers. Your mother was amazing, her personality, her care and love she always showed her family and friends. She was spunky, funny and straight up no chaser. She was honest and was very involved with activities (Exercise, What’s In a Word and of course Music at the Village of Towngate (formerly Atria Assisted Living). She was a very loving matriarch who loved family very much and always showed and expressed that sentiment. I was sad to her of her passing, she left an indelible impression among those she loved and those who loved her.
May God provide you all with strength, comfort and peace and precious memories to sustain you individually and collectively. RIP Catherine Sorge.

I remember Mr. and Mrs. Sorge so fondly. As neighbors, we enjoyed chatting across the fence and the amazing pizelles that Catherine would share with us. My parents and I were so grateful to have such kind and caring neighbors. May she and Mario be at peace and together again. Sincerely, the Taylor family
