Bridget Ruth Corder (McCarthy), 50 years young of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2022, after a short but strongly fought battle with cancer. Bridget was born on December 29th, 1971, to John R McCarthy and Helen L McCarthy (Herring) and went on to become a loving, compassionate, and caring person to so many families and friends. Bridget raised her first born, Christopher McCarthy as a kind and loving young man taking on all the best qualities of his mom. Bridget also raised her young daughter, Erin Lincoln, to be caring, wise, and loving of all creatures. Her children were truly her pride and joy. In 2014, Bridget met Andrew Hughes, her true soulmate, at work. Shortly after meeting, they moved to Pensacola Florida with Erin and began living a life in which their commitment to supporting each other every day brought love, laughter, struggle, loss, and more love. Bridget had a beautiful soul and was loved by so many from all parts of her short life. She touched so many with her kindness and showed immense courage when facing the obstacles that often get in life’s way. Bridget was predeceased by her father, John R. McCarthy; her brother, Michael Patrick McCarthy; and her half-sister, Lori Gardner. She is survived by her partner, Andrew Hughes; son, Christopher McCarthy; daughter, Erin Lincoln; mother, Helen McCarthy; sisters, Molly McCarthy (Tina Paternostro) and Katy (Gary Kowalczyk); brother, Kevin McCarthy; sister-in-law, Brenda McCarthy; as well as nieces Brittany, Katelynn, Renee, and Ellison; her nephews, Sean, Andy, Joey, Adam, Jimmy, and Aaron. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help offset costs for her daughter, Erin to take a school sponsored trip to Europe in 2023. Bridget’s visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 10 AM – 12 NOON where her celebration of life will be held at 12 NOON at Vay-Schleich & Meeson 1075 Long Pond Road. The family ask friends to join them at 1:00 p.m. for the visitation, and the service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
