Elizabeth Ruth (Betty) Mason Raymond died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, October 21, 2023 after an extended illness. She was 98. Predeceased by her devoted husband of 66 years, Bill Raymond, she is survived by her children Marybeth, Debra, Pamela, William, Jan, Timothy and Phillip, as well as 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Rochester and Greece, New York, Betty graduated from Nazareth High School. For many years she managed records of the office of a medical practice affiliated with Strong Memorial Hospital. An avid reader, community activist and consummate movie lover, Betty was the lynchpin to an ever-extending family. Her newsletters and birthday reminders kept the family in close contact. Her love of books and learning was passed along to everyone and Sunday morning gatherings at Barnes & Noble were sacrosanct. Deep into her 80s, she was still taking classes and at 90 Betty took a cruise down the Danube River. She maintained life-long friendships and always welcomed more. A woman of many interests, Betty loved travel, Potluck9, watching movies, gardening, Christmas music, coffee, fish fry Fridays and engaging in spirited discussions on a multitude of topics. Blessed with a long life, Betty’s remarkable legacy lives on in her legion of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A force of nature, Betty will be profoundly missed. Contributions in Betty’s name may be made to the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library. Internment private. Services will be provided at a later date
Love you, Mom.
So blessed both in the person and Mom she was, and her large and loving family that carries light and love into this world
One of my proudest attributes in life is being your granddaughter, Nonni. Your person and legacy will always be remembered. I love you.
Such a beautiful and lasting light in all our lives. Forever in my heart. Love you mom.
Love you mom. You will be missed.
Betty Raymond was a wonderful woman, and mother! Gerry and I had many happy times with her beloved, Bill! We are deeply sorry that her time on earth had to come to an end!
