Rochester: Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Bernice Johnson was the beloved wife of the late Gordon A. Johnson, and loving mother to Donna (Jack) Cassetta, David Johnson, and Sandra (Steven) Crump; grandmother to John (Alvi) Cassetta, Janice (Paul) LaBella, Timothy (Heather) Johnson, Christie Johnson, Ryan (Lee) Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Felicia Johnson; and great-grandmother to 9 loving great-grandchildren. Bernice was the second youngest of 6 children. She was born and raised in Rochester N.Y. Bernice married Gordon during World War II and went with him to a number of military bases across the USA before he was sent overseas. After the war, they began their family and remained very close to parents and siblings with many large family gatherings; family was always the most important thing to Bernice. They were long time members of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Bernice also owned and operated Bernice’s Card and Gift Shop in the 1960’s. Bernice remained gracious and kind to those around her to the end. Bernice’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Bonnie whose regular visits so enriched Bernice’s later years, as well as to the staff on 4-South at St. Johns’s Nursing Home for their great care and compassion. Friends may call Sunday (Feb 23rd) 2-4 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. Her Funeral Service will follow calling Sunday 4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Private Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory. Aunt Bernice you will be missed. I have so many memories of our holidays at your house on Flower City. You were always Auntie Dear. My children always called you Grandma No 2 because you looked so much like my mother. Donna, David and Sandy you have our sympathy and I know all the memories will help you. The Nolta sisters are together again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Love Faye and Ron Lockner Wellington Colorado
