Bernice C. (Vay) Hammill (Glegg)(Diebolt)(Breitung) Greece, New York: Passed September 16, 2019 at the age of 93. Mom finally joined her beloved husband, Bob, after being apart for almost 27 years. She will be so deeply missed by her daughters, Maureen (Raymond) Glegg, Sharon (Mark) Diebolt and Jean (Jack) Breitung. She was an adored grandmother to Lia Glegg (Scott) Crowder, Caitlin Glegg (Andrew) Pionessa, Adam Glegg, Jenna Wheater (Kyle) Atkins, Courtney Wheater (Robert) Kahl, Shannon Wheater (Collin Stirpe), Katie Breitung and Kelly Breitung. Mom was so thrilled to be a great-grandmother to Stella and Grant Crowder, Sarah and Maxwell Pionessa and Lucas Atkins. She cherished the large family she was a part of and is survived by her sisters, Arline (Bud) Nealon, Mary Lou Lester, Marguerite Ryan and Sr. Concepta Vay, S.S.J., along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Teresa Vay; her siblings and their spouses, Selma and Lawrence Schmerbeck, Eunice and Robert LaVigne, Geraldine and Richard Richter, Donald and Peggy Vay, Arthur Lester and John Ryan. We cannot thank enough the staff of Aurora House Comfort Care home in Spencerport, NY. The compassion and love they showed to our Mom for the last six weeks will never be forgotten. What more could a family want when your Mom tells you she is so lucky to be at that home. Friends may call Thursday (Sept 19th) 4-7 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (Sept 20th) 9:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Greece. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aurora House Comfort Care Home, 2495 S. Union St., Spencerport, NY 14559 in her memory. I was sad to see Bernice’s obituary this morning! Last fall she told me at mass that she was under going treatments and had 4-6 months. She said she would beat those odds because she had a lot more to do in life.yes, she was a snarky lady. She also appreciated having her three daughters near. They brought her meals took her to appointments and have her support and love. God bless them and Bernice.

It was such an honor to be able to get to know Bea and her family during her stay at Aurora House! She was such a fabulous (albeit ‘snarky’) lady and a such a joy! Thank you for entrusting her to our care…..

Our ‘Queen Bea’ is greatly missed at Aurora House; but we know she is finally reunited with Bob. We so appreciate the opportunity to get to know such a sweet lady and her family. God Bless!

It was an honor to be of some kind of comfort ,offering ease as a fellow” traveler”passes through. Bea was an inspiring person who had a great sense of humor. Her love and devotion to family was expressed often. I’m sorry for your sadness at the loss of such a huge presence in your lives but the peace you must feel now eases your loss. Aurora house is amazing. I’m so happy to have met you all. Sincerely Chris McEntee (volunteer)
