He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Horton, his loving children, Julia (Scott) VanOrman, Paul (Maria) Horton, his beautiful grandchildren Zack, Eli, Christina, Brendan, Katie, Rachael, Lindsay and Skye who were the lights of his life. He is also survived by the Horton family and his family in Ireland. Bernie proudly served his country in the US Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company as a Carpenter and made many wonderful things for others throughout his life. Bernie enjoyed driving his car, taking long walks and spending time with his family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and faithful servant of God who had a gentle soul and kind spirit. He will be dearly missed by those that love him. Bernie’s family is eternally grateful to the Unity ED staff, Unity’s staff on 3300 and 4400 and the Hildebrandt Hospice Care staff for their compassionate, kind and loving care of him during a most difficult time. No prior calling. A private mass will be held for Bernie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626 for the exceptional care he received by their team.

The Veterans Outreach Center extends our deepest sympathy in Bernie’s passing. We acknowledge and are truly grateful for his service to our country.
Bernie worked for me at Kodak Park in the Zone ‘B’ area. He was an excellent craftsman and truly a fine person. Looking back, that was a long, long time ago, but the important thing is, "never forget your friends!" My condolences to the family.
Mary and family, so sorry to read about Bernie! My prayers to you all. Love, Sue Baker
