Rochester, NY. 11/26/42-11/26/07, suddenly after a brief illness at the age of 65. She is predeceased by her parents, Harold & Irene Beck. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Paul M. Muratore; she is the beloved mother of Cynthia, Matthew (Christine) Muratore, and their daughter, Brandy Lynn. She is also survived by other family members and special friends. Barb was a retired math teacher from the Spencerport School District, an accomplished artist, a member of Suburban Rochester Art Group, Genesee Valley Plein-Air Painters, and Indian Rocks Art Group in Florida. She has paintings on display at the Renaissance Art Gallery . She also loved to travel the south west, was an avid athlete who especially enjoyed golf, and loved spending time with her family.
Barb has left of wonderful legacy in her art. I cherish all my prints that I have of hers. I am praying for all her family and friends in this time of deep sorrow.
Barb was always that special person/ As a class mate on Grand Island and later a tent neighbor at Lilac Art Fest
Barbara was a special and wonderful friend. I am also a S.R.A.G member and we have spent many happy times toghether. I send much sympathy and loving thoughts to all her family. Sincerely, Al Kennard
Cindi and Family, We are so very sorry for your loss. I’ve known you for approx. 12 years now Cindi, and I was so very lucky for that ‘workplace relationship’ when we found one of your Mother’s paintings at the Hilton Applefest. Tom decided to wait to purchase the painting. Do you remember me chasing you around at work, and attempting to describe it to you, very poorly I may add, in the hopes that you would help me get it from your Mom? Your Mother’s painting now hangs in our foyer (for over eight years now) and we will always remember her fondly when we look at it.
Cindi Paul and Matt I am so sorry for your terrible loss and I know that no words can ease the pain that you are feeling at this time. I hope you all know you have many people who love you and want to be here with you to help you through this difficult time. your mother loved her family and raised such wonderful children to be so proud of and i hope this will bring some comfort in the future. Cindi, I love you like a sister and the loss you are feeling right now hurts me very much. please know I am here for you for anything you need now and in the future. I love you very much.
Dear Barbara, I was just thinking of you the other day. I have a show to do in Syracuse this coming weekend. Don’t worry, it’s indoors. As you well know, I have many prints to display. We always shared ideas on things for our show tents. I was saying to myself, ‘I should email Barb and see where she got those large canvas print bins’. I let the thought go, as I had many things to prepare for. Now, of course, I wish I had tried to reach you. But, you were away and probably out of reach. Now, you are gone from us. Just last night, I was informed of your passing. Barb, I am so full of sorrow and at a loss for words. I can clearly see you standing in your booth or casually strolling the parking lot of Clothesline looking for customers. I have snapshots of Paul pushing that cart of cardboard boxes, with a big smile, rain or shine, hot or cold. You two always worked so hard together, and I have to say, never did I hear a nasty tone during breakdown of the tent..well, maybe once..Doing the shows can be a real test of a couples patience. It requires dedicated teamwork and a common understanding. You and Paul must have been doing something right all these years. I would like to think the last thing you were doing is painting, but regardless, I’m sure it was not far from your mind. I would make every attempt to come to see you on thursday, as I have set up to do. I know, you would tell me, ‘Go to the show Paul, do your thing’. Well, I’ll see what I can do Barb. If I can’t make it, I’ll think of you during the show. June will be home with Austin, so I’m flying solo. Paul, our condolences go out to you and your family at this time. Barb is at peace now, planning more glorious works from above. The heavens are her canvas. With deepest sympathy, The Taylors
Dear Paul and family: We are so sorry of the news of Barbara. Barb and I spoke when we heard of Irene. I am Irene cousin. My Mom was Julia Nyshta. Jim was my brother. We met at Orchard Park when we came to see her art work, which was beautiful. I am so sorry we are in Thorofare, New Jersey baby sitting our grandaughter and wont be able to come to the funeral. Margie called me this afternoon to tell me the terrible news. Was she sick?Barb had emailed me you both were going to Arizona I thought she said. I know there is not much that can be said but you are all in our prayers. I will try to call you this weekend. Art and Nancy
I am so sorry for your family’s loss. While I only met Barbara once briefly, I am a close friend of Cindi’s, and she must have been a wonderful person to raise a daughter like her. May the love of your family and friends, and fond memories get you through this terrible time. God bless.
I did not know Barbara personally, but I saw her at every craft show she did and I own two of her paintings, which I treasure. I’m very picky about my art work and I was always drawn to hers. She was always so nice to me at every show and I was so very shocked and sad to hear about her death. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.
I was an employee of Spencerport Central. Barbara was a true professional. It was a shock to read about her passing. I know she will leave everlasting memories to everyone she came into contact. She was an excellent math teacher, super person, and concerned parent.
IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART THAT I SAY GOODBYE TO BARB. BRENDA LYNESS AND I WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO PAINTING WITH HER IN FL. SHE HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL,INTERESTED IN THE LIVINGSTON ART GROUP. WE WILL MISS HER. KNOWING BARB HAS BEEN ONE OF THE GOOD THINGS IN MY LIFE. MYCONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. SALLY MOSES
Mrs. Muratore was my geometry teacher during the ’65/’66 school year at Greece Arcadia HS. Despite ‘aceing’ my other math classes I just could not grasp geometery. Although I wanted to drop the class many times, it was through Mrs. Murature’s tutoring, special attention and insistance that I not give up that I finally passed. A few months after graduation I enlisted in the Marine Corps and they had that same attitude – there are no such words as ‘can’t’ or ‘quit.’ Lessons I had already learned. Years later my son was having trouble with a calculus class in high school and wanted to drop it. I told him how my math teacher had helped me years before so he decided to stick with it and work with his teacher too. Today, he’s a math teacher in Webster and I’d like to think Mrs. Muratore had a little something to do with that. As time has passed, memories of my school years, the teachers, etc., have begun to fade, but not so Mrs. Muratore. I will never forget her dedication and devotion to her students, nor the sacrifices she made to help us. My deepest sympathies go out to Mrs. Muratore’s husband, her children and the entire family.
Mrs. Muratore was my math teacher a very long time ago. I had a lot of family issues at that time in my life and she was the first teacher to reachout to me and tell me that anything she would help me in any way she could. Even after I wasn’t in her class any longer she still made a point to check up on me thru out my remaining high school years. If it were not for teachers like her I would not be were I am today. She was a wonderful and kind woman who made a great deal of difference in my life. She will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathy to Barbara’s family. Here on Grand Island, our hearts are also broken in that we won’t have the opportunity to see Barbara at our grade school reunion next summer -and always keep in touch. We loved her so much.

Though I did not know Barbara from what I have read and was told by her wonderful daughter, she was a very loving a caring wife , mother and friend. She will be missed by everyone she has touched in her own special way. Hold on to these moments and don’t let them go. Cindi I can not express to you how sorry I am. I want you to know I am there for you with anything you may need in these hard times ahead. You are and will always be in my thoughts and prayers. You are truly a loving and most wonderful person, if we all could have alittle of you in us this world would be a much happier place. You have certainly made your mother very proud.
To Paul and family: Deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
To the Family of Barbara Muratore, I was so very sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. your former neighbor, Rose Milone
To the family: I will miss Barbara very much. We had recently made plans to paint every week with Sally Moses in Largo, Florida where I recently bought a home. She was such a kind gal that always greeted me with a hug and a smile. She was fun, helping, accepting and, of course, very creative. I looked forward to seeing her in Lakeville each week during the summer and on weekly paint outs through GVPAP. This is such a great loss having a woman with her gifts leave so early. My heart is heavy. I send my deepest sympathies to all the family. Sincerely, Brenda Lyness
We have known Barbara for many years….starting at Alfred University… What a nice surprise to meet up again with her at Spencerport School District…She was always pleasant and friendly (Joyce was the telephone operator at the school) whenever she called, she was so pleasant and I admired her paintings at Lakeside Hospital, whenever I visited there…. Such a sad loss!
We have lost a dear friend with Barbara’s passing. I had looked forward to her coming to Florida so we could paint together. She will be missed by all who knew her. My deepest sympathy to her family. Jane
While having breakfast with a friend, about three weeks ago, Paul and Barbara came in and sat next to us. I greeted you both and noticed that you both looked as fit and beautiful as ever. Karen and I are shocked and saddened by this tragic loss. Although the years and family obligations have not allowed us to be close friends as we used to be in our earlier days. We have always admired your joy and vigor. We will cherish the beauty, energy and spirit that Barbara always radiated.
With My Deepsest Sympathy to you Paul, Cynthia, Matthew, Christine, Brandy Lynn and your extended family. May your tears bring healing, may your memories bring peace and Barbara’s paintings bring comfort. She has shared her many talents with us and we all will miss her. She will be painting in heaven! Take care of eachother! Sincerely, Christina and TEAM
