Kamp, Arthur Joseph Greece: died February 5, 2016 at age 91. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marion (Mary) Kamp, and by his wife of 72 years, Irene Catherine Ehrstein Kamp, who died December 31, 2015. He is survived by his brother, Franklin Kamp and wife Ernestine, and nephew Greg Kamp and his wife, Cathy. He is also survived by his children: Arthur Kamp, Jr. and wife Barbara, Richard Kamp and wife Claire, Janet McLean and husband Doug, and Stephen Kamp and fiancée Micaela, and his grandchildren: Sara Kamp Collins and husband Scott, Nathaniel Kamp and wife Elizabeth, Jeffrey McLean and wife Lindsey, Stuart McLean and wife Jackie, and Connor Kamp. In addition, Arthur is survived by his great-grandchildren: Maya, Sophia, Michael, Benjamin, Caroline, Alan, Audrey and Colin. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a dear friend to many. Arthur was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired Commissary Officer, served on the U.S. Defense Commission Agency, a life member the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), a past President and Key Member of the Amherst Lions Club, a past Commander of the American Legion – Washington Post, a past Chaplain and Executive Officer of the Navy Club, a Member of the Monroe County Voiture III of the 40&8 for the IRA Jacobson Post American Legion, and past Commander of the Monroe County American Legion Honor Guard. Arthur was employed most of his life in the food industry, working as an executive for most of the major grocery store chains and, for the last several years prior to his retirement, as a Commissary Officer. Arthur was born in Rochester, NY and, with his wife, Irene, lived in Buffalo, NY, and Mt. Pocono, PA, among other locations. Arthur’s visitation will be held Thursday (February 11th) 4 to 6 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece, NY. His Funeral Service will follow calling Thursday 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
