Greece: Peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his children, Sunday, March 20, 2011. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. DePalma; brothers, Michael DePalma Jr., Patrick A. DePalma. Survived by his sons, Richard (Judith) DePalma & Robert (Debra) DePalma; daughter, Suzanne (Lawrence) Castine; grandchildren, Karen (Eric) Rainsberg, Glen DePalma, Neil, David & Brian Castine; great-granddaughter, Audrey Rainsberg; brother, Raymond DePalma; sister-in-laws, Linda (David) Clark, Irene DePalma; several nieces and nephews; many great friends. He was a Army veteran during the Korean War and an avid New York Yankees fan. Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 9:00 AM at Holy Cross Church. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lifetime Care Hospice or Disabled American Veterans in his memory.
Cousin Art and his three brothers and seven close cousins had the rare privilege of being raised by wonderful parents and three close Aunts and Uncles. In addition he grew up in the great village of Charlotte, where neighbors and merchants added to our growing up process. Art passed on this brand of love to his wife, Barbara, and his children and many friends. What a privilege it was to be his cousin. My prayers and sympathy to his family.

My mom called me this morning after reading of Art’s passing in the paper this morning. Art was friends with my family for probably over 60+ years and we share many pleasant memories of summer parties, weddings, sharing summer cabin’s togather, my parent’s double dating with Art and Barbara, etc. Art always was full of life and funny stories to share and laugh over. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Please accept my condolences on the death of Art. I lived around the corner from he and Barbara on Little Creek Dr and often visited the two of them as they walked the neighborhood. After Barbara’s death, Art and I would have long talks in his front yard. He missed her so deeply and then cancer came and he faced another challenge bravely. I am happy that he and Barbara are together enjoying peace and their love for each other. He was a gentle and wonderful man. I am so glad that I got to know him. My prayers and sympathy are with all of the family. I’m sorry that I can’t make the wake or funeral. We are related through my dad, George Lurz. Kay Lurz, SSJ
Remembering all the good times with Cousin Art . In 1947 or 48, we went with Barb & Art on the train to a Yankee game, Joe DiMaggio was playing. Also played in a Euchre Group with Tony Carbone, Jack Bettin, us and the wives.Always cheering for Yankees and some for Baltimore Orioles. Art played Golf in the Monday nite Latta Lea League,for many years, joining everyone for dinner after . He will be missed but not forgotten.
Rick, Sue and Rob, I am filled with so many childhood memories of your Dad. Always welcoming and generous. He will remain in our hearts. We are fortunate to have such a loving, supportive family. Although miles separate most of us today, this love continues in our families. It is apparent any time we gather. Our deepest sympathy to all of you and your families.
