I would like to express my condolenses for your loss. I worked with Al at St. Mary’s Hospital in the early 70’s and rememeber him as a wonderful man. Odetha (Odessa) Sparkman and I used to joke around with him; loved his sense of humor. For some reason, I remember him telling us how he cooked a ham. At that time, men didn’t usually do any cooking and we were just enthralled with his accomplishment.
I left St. Mary’s in 72 to have my daughter. When Al was preparing for his directorship at Park Ridge, he called me at home to ask me to be his new secretary. I turned him down as I wanted to remain a stay-at-home mom but I was very flattered by his request. He was a special man and you were lucky to have him.
Odessa is now living in Texas but I am sure she would like to express her condolenses for your loss also.
