Adriana C. Urtis Barry
April 21, 1935 – December 20, 2021
Adriana is predeceased by her daughter, Juliette Urtis Kelly, and her husband, William Barry. Loving mother to daughters Licia Murrell, Jackie (George) Delgado, Kristin (Rob) Nieberlein, Adriana (Thomas) Halloran and son John (Claire) Urtis. Devoted and caring Nonna to Caitlyn Kelly (Jeff Kupski), Maureen (Daniel) Phillips, Ben, Andrew, and Michael Murrell, Amanda (Dane) Armstrong, Juliette Delgado, Annalisa (Kristopher) McCormick, Seth and Vanessa Delgado, Jacob, Hannah, Nathan and Emma Halloran and Julia Urtis. Proud Nonna GiGi to Evangeline, Ariella, and Gemma Armstrong, Ryleigh and Callen McCormick, and Everett Phillips. Adriana was born in Ithaca, NY, she started playing the organ at age 12 for Immaculate Conception Parish, she was named Miss Ithaca HS 1953, she attended Cornell University and Nazareth College to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees while raising 6 children. Adriana lived most of her life in Charlotte, NY and was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish; she was the liturgical leader and music teacher for many years at Holy Cross. She went on to teach music for Greece Central School District for 23 years. Adriana blessed not only her family and friends, but also the community with her gift of music through piano instruction, musical theater, and voice. She touched countless lives and instilled faith and a love for music in all of them. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester or Willow Domestic Violence Center.
Services will be rescheduled in the near future.
From the time I was her student at 8 years old, and for the next 63 years, Adriana has been a treasured part of my life. The time spent with her and her beautiful children will always hold special memories for me. I was so honored to spend a recent evening with her, celebrating her granddaughter’s bridal shower…..and seeing how she enjoyed the presence of so many family and friends. She will be truly missed.

A lovely, giving woman with a great sense of humor. I’m sure you will all miss her but carry her so deeply in your hearts that she will always be a light in this world.
Rest In Peace Adriana. Our friendship started 40 years ago. My prayers to the family. I have so many wonderful memories that will last forever.

Adriana was one of the first people to welcome me to the music ministry at Holy Cross. I remember her fondly. Condolences to the family.

I worked at fleming point for about a year from 2020-2021 and although you are not supposed to have favorites, Adriana was by far one of them. I always looked forward to seeing her when I was on my way to work. I always made sure she got an orange since we usually didn’t have many because she loved to eat them with her oatmeal. When I would give her one it always put a big smile on her face. That smile always made me so happy, she was so adorable. Although I did not know any of her family personally, I felt like I did through her stories. She loved to brag about her kids and grandkids and show me how big her family is. She always told me how beautiful and special I was, meanwhile she was the beautiful and special one. I couldn’t help but share how she impacted me, as a teenager having their first job she always gave me good advice and of course a little confidence boost. My condolences go out to her family she was amazing and will be missed dearly. Thoughts and prayers, such a special lady❤️
Beautifully stated my cousin. She was so very happy when you found your North American family. Sadly, the opportunity to meet Mom Adriana in person did not present itself due to Covid. Grazie♥️

To thevUrtis family, I am sorry that I can not come in person to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your mom. I have not gotten my covid test back yet. I’m glad I visited with your mom a couple of times. Sorry it has been awhile, but with covid we were being careful. Again I am so sorry

Sorry for your loss. Best to all surviving family and know my sister Sharon and I greatly enjoyed your Moms stellar, behind the scenes, leadership role during the production of The Witness at Holy Cross. Long ago but never forgotten. Rest angel.
Mrs. Adriana Urtis has a special place in my heart. She was my music teacher way back in the 1960’s. She taught music at Holy Cross School. I remember her wonderful smile, full of love and life. During middle school I remember singing "Old Chris Kringle" at Sibley’s under Mrs. Urtis’ guidance. She was a talented woman with a love for family, for music, and for the Lord. May she rest in peace and sing with the angels.
