On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Michael Sufra peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Mariannina; his parents-in-law, Nicholas and Mary Daniels; and his sister-in-law, Melinda Sufra.

Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Diane (Daniels); his son, Anthony (Devan); and his cherished grandchildren, Michael and Julianna. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph; his sister, Antoinette (Francesco) Tarzia; his sister-in-law, Pamela (William) Fenlon; his brother-in-law, Michael (Karen) Daniels; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Michael was a proud Italian American who relocated to Rochester, New York, at the age of 14. At 18, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Michael worked as a tailor at Hickey Freeman and later retired from Adrian Jules.

Michael was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, always making sure everyone’s plate and glass were full. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, son, and grandchildren, whom he considered his greatest accomplishment.

Friends may call Thursday (Feb 5th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (Feb 6th) 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Greece. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Michael’s memory to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

    Dear Diane and family,
I will always remember the fun times we had together. Playing cards, making pasta at 2am in the morning and so much more.

It is true that Mike always made sure your glass was full and filled you with food.

My deepest condolences to Diane and her family for the great loss of her husband, Michael. I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Michael. All I can say is that I was blessed to have known him, as he was a very kind and respectful person whenever I went to his house to clean. He treated me like one of his family, which showed how well-mannered and respectful he was to others. Thank you for allowing me to work in your home and share a few stories with you before I left for my own house after finishing cleaning it. It truly hurt me to learn that he will no longer be with his wife. I know what a loss is like; it’s very sad. I’m sorry I can’t be there to be with you, but God is with you and will give you the strength you each need. My prayers are with you. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Mr. Michael. Sending you a big hug, Diane

It’s very hard to try and put over 45 years of friendship in words except to say how much we will remember the wonderful times together and how much he will be missed. It certainly will not be the same. Our heartfelt sympathy. With Much love. Tom & Ann

My deepest condolences to Diane, Anthony and your entire family for your loss. Michael Sufra was always a kind and loving person who truly cared, in the traditional Italian style, for all of his family and friends. He touched everyone he met in a Special Way. It has always been my privilege and honor to be his friend. A giant of a person. He just recently came to the wake for my brother, Anthony, and gave me a loving hug and warm words of compassionate caring for the loss which we experienced. I was so saddened to hear of Michael’s passing so shortly after having seen him. I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this most difficult time. God bless you all.
