I remember Zach as a tiny, bright, smiling baby and toddler. He was a joyful little human. I remember him having a knack for taking things apart at a young age to the delight and chagrin of his mama.

Been a little over 2.5 years seen I last seen you Zac. And I hate that it takes losing a colleague, a friend, a brother for all of us to remember just how precious those bonds mean to us. Your laugh was contagious and you always knew how too light up the room. We will forever miss you, and will always love you. Fly high and rest easy our dear Zac.

Zac, you were one of my best friends on the boat. After hearing the horrible news, I remember every conversation we had and every sarcastic joke we have ever said to each other. It’s hard not to tear up throughout the day because I wish your life didn’t end this early. I wish we talked more after I got out of the navy and I’m so sorry I can’t come to your service since I’m so pregnant with my next kid. I miss you dearly and hope you found your peace.
