Dear Bour family, I worked with Sally in the #42 school lunchroom & was greatly saddened to hear of your loss. We had a lot of fun back then & I actually ran into her a few months back & we laughed about our adventures at school. Having her as a co-worker made even the bad days more enjoyable. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Dear Gene and Family – We are very sad to hear of Sally’s passing. We have never known a nicer lady. We will always have fond memories of Sally and Gene from our many fire service gatherings. Rest is pease kind and gracious lady.

Dear Gene and family, The passing of Sally marks the end of a wonderful lady. It also marks the end of a great team; the team of Sally and Gene. I first met Sally many years ago while attending NYS Fire Chiefs conventions. She and ‘The Chief’ were among the most admired couples. Her humor and genuine friendliness became her trademark. Sally’s devotion to her husband of 58 years, her love of family and her beloved Barnard FD Ladies Auxiliary set the bar pretty high for the rest of us. Rest easy dear Sally. Your smile and life will be remembered forever by all that you touched along the way.

Know that you were loved and that you had the honor and priviledge of having a mother that loved and adored you. That will never go away. Keep the faith that she is in a better place , she is happy and you will be reunited with her some day. Prayers are with all of you. Love, Rick & Sue

Gene & Family, I was so sorry to hear of Sally’s passing. She was a true friend of which I will never forget the times we sat and chatted over coffee. I also hold high her suggesations when I needed them about something. We had a lot of laughs but knew when you were troubled you could depend on Sally to be there for you. Friends like that are hard to find. All the good times we had in the auxiliary will be treasured memories for me. Just remember she will always be there shining down on you and guiding you. She is a very special angel watching over us. God Bless all of you. You are in my thiughts and prayers. Carol Bowers

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Bour’s passing. I remember at #42 school she was the adult that walked my class back from lunch and I always got a hug. When she and my Mom would have coffee I would play with Mitsy. My thoughts are with all of you.

I liked Sally Bour. I knew her a little as I was growing up but only through my parents. When I had an opportunity to do remodeling work for Sally & Gene over the years I had more contract with her, we shared many a cup of coffee in her kitchen and she always so interested in me and how may family was doing. She really listened after she asked me a question which isn’t something everyone does these days. We talked about Barnard FD as she had alot of memories of all the families that my family grew up with @ Barnanrd and it was fun for me to remember some of those through Sally Bour’s eyes. I am not telling her family anything they aren’t aware of, she was always a nice person to me over the years & always enjoyed talking with her over coffee. Dale Meier

I remember Sally so fondly. We worked together at School 42 years ago. She was always so gracious and was well-liked by everyone.. She touched the lives of many children in a positive way. We laughed about the time we ran into each other on a street corner in Las Vegas near the Excalibar Hotel while on vacation. Neither of us knew that the other one was going to be there! Sally was a great role model and many shall remember her.
