Ronald Joseph Merkley
August 24, 1916 ~ October 13, 2008
Greece: Monday, October 13, 2008 at age 92. He is predeceased by his infant son, Donald Robert Merkley; and sister, Patricia Thomas. Survived by his devoted wife, Rita(Cashion)Merkley of 66 years; loving children, Maureen (the late Salvatore)Tantillo, Karl(Angela)Merkley, Steven Merkley and David Merkley; beloved grandchildren, Tracy(Donna)Merkley, Christopher Gracco, Robert Merkley and Eric(Danielle)Binn; and special great-grandchildren, Kayla, Maia, Natalei, Emma and Skylar; nieces, nephews and many dear friends, Ronald was a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force and a retiree of Gannett Newspapers. The family wishes to thank the staff at Unity Hospital, 2300 Unit.
Friends may call Sunday, 1-4PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Ronald's Funeral Service will be on MONDAY 10:00AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Parkinson Disease Association

Rita, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My sympathy to the family. I have fond memories of you when I lived on Leonard Road. My prayers are with you.

To Rita and Family,
Dick worked with Ron at the newspaper in Rochester. We visited back and forth a bit at that time when we were in Greece. In 1973 we moved to Churchville and seemed to lose contact with you both but never forgot. We now live in Chili in the summer and have a home in Florida for the winter.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Rita and your family.
