Greece: Thursday, December 11, 2008. Predeceased by his wife, Shirley Davenport; longtime companion, Betty Pasternak. Survived by his sons, Robert J. (Sandra) Davenport, Thomas J. Davenport; brothers, James R. (Mary) Davenport, William J. (Elizabeth) Davenport; sister, Phyllis Davenport; nieces and nephews, Duane, Dawn, Sean, Susan & John; grand nieces and nephews; many loving friends. Robert was a retiree of the Rochester City Fire Department after 29 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Friends may call Monday 6-8 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home 1075 Long Pond Road. Friends may call Tuesday 10-11 AM where Robert’s Funeral Service will follow Tuesday 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the funeral home. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hildebrandt Hospice in his memory.

A fond farewell to my client and friend . . . .
Dear Tom,
We are very sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man and will be sadly missed. He was always a pleasure to have in our office. You take care of yourself.
I only recently met Bob and only had about 3 or 4 conversations with him. He told me about his life and his loves. He spoke of the fire department and his summer home. I was sad to learn he was so ill. He generously gave me a copy of the book that he wrote. I will never forget Bob and his family will be in my prayers.
