September 18, 1936 ~ April 14, 2009
Greece: Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, Perrin and Inez; sisters, Juanita and Deanna; wives, Kathleen Elschker and Kathleen Hugoboon.
Survived by his loving wife, Jean; sons, Charles (Isabelle) Johnson, Michael (Sharleen) Johnson; daughters, Robin, Jamie, Brenda (Gary) Bonisteel, Elaine Weber, Joan (Ted) Lincoln, Marlene (Darren) Blocker; several grandchildren; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was employed with the Town of Greece Highway Department for over 30 years. He was a proud Army veteran.
Friends may call Thursday 3-7 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Private Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hildebrandt Hospice in his memory.

As a former nurse at Dr. Smith’s office I am deeply saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you Jean, during this difficult time. Just know that you truely took better care of Bob than any doctor or nurse could with all of your love and compassion.
As a nurse in the cardiac rehab. dept. I have known Bob for many years. He was a truly great man and a friend. Always there with a smile and a helping hand. There were times I’d share a disappointment in losing or not being able to find the ‘perfect wooden’ piece I had been looking for. And after drawing it he’d come back to me with the hand made piece. I still have and laugh at his crafted ‘toothpick’holder. I’ll miss you my friend but thanks for all the great years we talked and laughed together.

Dear Jean & family, Our hearts go out to all of you in the loss of Bob. He was a part of our lives from the time he was just a very young man. I pray that you all enjoyed your time with him and that God will receive him with open arms in His Kingdom. Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Dear Jean and family,
I am so sorry that I missed reading of Bob’s passing. I was unaware of it until this evening when my longtime friend, Paul List told me at our NGFD Exempt Club meeting. I could not believe what I was hearing. How I missed it has me puzzled, but because I missed it, I am upset. I have known Bob Johnson all my life. The Johnson chicken farm on Mill Road was not far from my parents produce farm on Long Pond Road. Our families were good friends from back in the 30’s. My dad always admired Bob’s family, and also the nearby List Farm family located next door. Lots of good old town of Greece history here. Bob’s sister Juanita was my godmother.
I fondly recall Bob’s career with the Greece Highway Department and his friendly wave as he passed by our farm. He was always happy, surrounded by his many cronies from ‘The Highway.’ as he always said.
Recalling how close the Johnson and Preston families always were, and for me to miss Bob’s funeral, makes me sad. Jean, I AM SO SORRY that I was not there to say good-bye to Bob and express my deep sympathy. I shall visit his grave site tomorrow morning and pray for him. My late wife’s grave is also at Parma Union, and my visits there will now include a stop to talk with Bob too.
