Greece: Sunday, May 20, 2012. Predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Veronica Malta; brothers, Charles and John; sister, Marilyn; son-in-law, Mark Sardisco. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years Linda Malta; daughter, Laurie Sardisco; son, Timothy (Amy) Malta; grandchildren; Eric Whittenberg, Nathaniel Graham, Alexis and Abbie Gail Malta; several nieces and nephews. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call Thursday, May 24th, 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road (Greece Chapel). His Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 25th, 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 Ridge Road West. Greece, NY. Interment will follow Mass in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends wishing may make contributions to the Journey Home, 994 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626.

  1. As I look back on my favorite family faces, I always see my Uncle Dick! Fun loving, always welcoming and so happy. He was one of those people that just made you smile when you were in his company. Gentle in his approach and caring is what he was. I was always happy to see him! I truly loved him and am deeply sad over his passing. He leaves us with a strong example of what all of us should take into consideration, to greet each day with a smile and make your presence bring happiness to others upon your arrival. That is what he did! I will never forget him as he is in my heart forever!

  2. I worked with Dick in B-6 at Elmgrove, and Dick always made it a little more fun to come to work. He truly was one of the good guys, and he will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family.

  4. My Deepest condolences to the Malta family. Although I have not seen Mr. Malta in many years, I grew up with his daughter & he was like a 2nd father to me. He was a wonderful man & i will always remember his strength & laughter.
