John P. McTammany Jr.
Greece NY left this world for a better place, peacefully at home with his loving family November 17, 2023 at age 76. Predeceased by parents John and Theresa (Hallatt) McTammany; sister Eileen (Connie Cramer). He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Cynthia, his children Michael (Tracy) , Patrick (Brittany) , and Colleen (Michael) Steiner; his six grandchildren Caden, Brodie, Ryder, Ainsley, Mikayla and Lucas; his brother James (Joyce DeFalco) ; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was in the first graduating class at Cardinal Mooney High School. He enjoyed his time working with the brothers at Cardinal Mooney, as a Dental Tech at Dr. Cassatas office, in the preservation department at Wards Science, as an electrician at Ragu Packing Co., and 27 years as an electrician with maintenance at Kodak. He was a lay Dominican and altar server at daily mass for many years. He enjoyed his Bible study group, being in the woods, avid camper, enjoyed plants, worked as a taxidermist, artist, a wonderful harmonica player, and whistler extraordinaire. John loved his dogs throughout the years. He was an avid Josh Allen fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Friends may call Friday, November 24, 2023, 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St John the Evangelist Church, 2400 West Ridge Road. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Charcot Marie Tooth Association at cmtausa.org in his memory.

I have very warm memories of John when we were just kids on Hoover Dr.
For absolutely no reason I chose to tell my wife about our time doing taxidermy in John’s attic only two days ago and never mentioned him previously in 40+ years of our marriage. Anyway RIP John.
I remember John as being one of the kindest people in our class at Cardinal Mooney. The world would be a better place if there were more people in it like John. Farewell my friend, see you in the next life.
