Jean Whelehan Ring

Friday, September 2, 2022.  Jean was predeceased by her devoted husband, James DeWitt Ring; father, Walter L. Whelehan, Sr.; mother, Louise Herman Rauber;  brother Walter L. Whelehan, Jr. , and grandson, Andrew Durbin.

She is survived by her loving children, Anne (James) Edwards, Michael (Anita) Ring, Mary Lee (Ronald) Durbin, Norma (James) Cummings, Joan (William) Markis and DeWitt (Marta) Ring, as well as grandchildren (24), great-grandchildren (39), great-great-grandchildren (2), “sister” Mary Lou Haag Mikel and many dear friends.

Jean was a lifelong caregiver who was devoted to her faith, family, and friends for almost 98 years.  She was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, worked at Rochester General Hospital, The Jewish Home, and retired after working as a school nurse in Greece.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jean’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 9th 10:30 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church.  Interment will be at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Veterans Outreach and Salvation Army.  For more information and to sign her online guestbook, visit meesonfamily.com
