  1. I can’t tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Your Dad made me feel like one of the family back in the 70s. Course that just meant that he felt free to yell at me when I deserved it. I have so much respect for him and the job he did raising all of you. I know he is looking down and is proud of what he left behind. Please know our prayers are with all of you.

  2. I know you probably don’t remember me, but our family lived next to you on Valiant Dr. As a matter of fact I babysat for you when your parents would go out both while in that house and the house that you lived in off West Henrietta Rd.
When my friend sent this to me, I had to reach out and send my condolences and tell you how sorry I was to hear about the loss of your father. It is not easy losing a loved one. Please know that my prayers and thoughts are with you and your families during this difficult time, and may God bless all of you.

  3. I still remember many a morning pedaling over to the Schiffhauers to have breakdast with ‘Papa Smurff’ I always looked forward to Jims insightful and unabashed insight on politics and the economy among other things. I could always count on some interesting conversation. He was a great man, a good role model and an excellent father. My sincerest condolances to all the family and friends.

  4. I’m so sorry for your loss. My sister Kay informed me of James passing. I do remember your family living next door to us on Valiant dr. and just wanted to let you know that your family is in my prayers. God Bless

  5. Jim was the first frend I met upon arriving in Rochester in 1966.We had a great time working’socializing and raising our families. We have fond memories of those times. I consider very myself very fornuate to have him as a friend and neighbor, thank you Jim

  6. My first semester in college I was running around the dorm around 8:00 pm trying to forget that I was just a little home-sick. From down the hallway I heard, ‘Jimmy!’Âť yelled in a part question and part stern accusation tone of voice, as if I had just done something wrong, but the person was not sure it was actually me. I turned around expecting to see my Dad, but instead, saw that it was my Uncle Jimmy. My surprise and delight at seeing a family member must have been heard in my voice because for years afterward I was teased by my fellow dorm-mates for my unabashed display of emotion. Uncle Jimmy was on his way home from some business trip and stopped by to take me out to dinner. My college was a two hour drive from the nearest highway, in the middle of the Catskills. No one just stopped by.

What I will remember most about my Uncle Jimmy is the way he could keep you in line (which he did often) one moment and then, the next moment, make you want to give him a hug for being so generous. I gave Uncle Jimmy several hugs that evening and never regretted the child like glee his presence brought out in me. He even allowed me to get the most expensive steak on the menu.

Uncle Jimmy, ‘this is no drill !’Âť you will be missed.
