Greece: Saturday, May 4, 2019. Predeceased by his parents, Mario and Helen; wife, Jasmine M.; daughter, Patti; grandson, Hunter. Survived by his loving daughters, Paula Fantone; Pamela (Richard) Cerone; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Theresa) Fantone; sister, Loretta (Ralph) Orrico; Uncle, Rocco Cerretto; nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family and many dear friends.
Jim was a proud graduate of Aquinas Institute and RIT. He was past director of the Greece Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and retired as Deputy Clerk with Rochester City Court. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing blackjack and poker. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim's Funeral Service will be celebrated Wednesday, May 8th 11:00 AM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson 1075 Long Pond Rd. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. I am so sorry on your loss of a very caring man! Jim was a great director of the Cadets of Greece providing a wonderful experience winning the many national competitions in 1975 and building a great organization providing an experience that indulged memories almost 50 years later of pride and accomplishment. May you cherish the memories ,Paula, Pam and Rick and may you find peace in the fact that Jim is reunited with Jay,Patty and Hunter in Heaven!
John and I enjoyed Jim’s company very much. We first met Jim when we moved into our condo. Then became even closer thru our friendship with his daughter Patti.
We will miss Jim and all his great stories.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at the loss of your dad. He was an encouraging presence through many long practices as we marched our hearts out in competition after competition.
I echo Gary & Ron’s sentiments . . . Jim was a great man who helped etch those youthful memories in the Cadets; they still march on.
Paula,Pam and Rick. Rosanne and I are so sorry to hear about your Father’s passing he was awesome and made those years marching together so memorable and fun. He will be missed. I will always keep in my mind the sight of him standing on the very top row of the bleachers where ever we were 50 yard line, arm’s folded and playing with his mustache something that I adopted and still do today. Those summers we had together will forever be etched in our hearts and minds and your dad (Mr. Fantone) played a huge part in that and I and I know many others will always be grateful.
Good memories of a thriving upstate NY drum corps scene during Jim’s days with the Cadets and my days with the Squires. RIP, Jim.
I have such wonderful memories of my childhood and the majority of them revolve around marching with the Cadets of Greece. Jim Fantone was a big part of that along with his entire family. My prayers and condolences are with all family and friends. I leave you with the final note of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, horns angled up at the stands knowing that you are in Heaven proud of the Corps and all of us thankful we had the opportunity to be a part of history, Class A DCI Champions! Rest in Peace Sir!
Want to express our condolences for Jim. He came to our Reiki sessions and we shared many laughs- good food- and some wonderful energy! I met him several years ago enjoyed his sense of humor. He will be missed!
