Greece: October 7, 2012 at age 83. Predeceased by his 1st wife, Betty (Ludlow) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Johnson; sister, Mary Anna Gragg; daughter, Katherine (Mark) Kristansen; son, William (Carolyn) Johnson; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends. John was born in Watertown, NY on January 14, 1929. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. John is a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company as a Research Chemist, was very active in Troop 185 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at Rochester General Hospital, an avid square dancer and enjoyed Big Band music. John's family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital for their compassion and care shown to John and his family throughout his illness. John's visitation will be held Friday, October 12th, 4-7 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held, following visitation at 7 P.M. in Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held privately in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rochester General Foundation (GiverGH.org), Unity Health Foundation (UnityHealth.org/Foundation) or to a charity of your choice in his memory.
