My name is Jane Ann Bartell, Herbie lived across the hall from my Mom, Joan D. Bartell at Georgetown. They had a wonderful friendship. Any time I would come to visit I would always get a chance to chat with Herbie in the hallway, I could tell he was a caring man from the start. They had a great bond and I always appreciated Herbie checking up on my Mom. I loved that my mom had such caring people around her at Georgetown and my mother enjoyed all her friends there and all the special events and gatherings. She treasured her time there in her quaint apartment and I know Herbie loved his time there too. Their friendship was special and true. I will forever be grateful for his kindness to my mother. And I was exceptionally touched to see him at her wake. That was the last time I saw Herbie, August of 2022. But I will always remember his smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his kind voice. May he rest in peace. I am confident he is with his loved ones above. And I will certainly remember what an angel he was to our family here on Earth. To the Mattle family, you have my deepest sympathy. My apologies this note is late, it was only when I wanted to reach out to Herbie on the anniversary of my mother’s passing that I found out of your deep loss. You have our sincere condolences, Jane Ann Bartell, and my sister’s: Kathy Jo Kane, and Lynne S. Bartell.
