Gerald (Jerry) Hunt

Greece: passed away unexpectedly at home on November 26, 2021 at the age of 66.  Born in Batavia in 1955, Jerry lived all his life in the Rochester and Finger Lakes areas, most recently in Greece, NY.  Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth G. Hunt, Janet Wackenheim Beck, and stepmother Alice Hunt; sister, Cheryl Hunt Whiteford.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeanette Heigl Hunt; his children Kenneth (Laura) Hunt of East Amherst, NY, Ryan (Brigid) Hunt of Taylors, SC, and Elise (Kevin) Mettler of Henrietta, NY;  his beloved grandchildren Isla and Neal Hunt, and Connor Mettler; brothers Calvin (Edith), Kyle (Lisa) and Keith Hunt; many nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.

Jerry was a devoted priest in the New Apostolic Church for many years.  His ability to empathize and communicate with others brought joy to him and those he served.

His love for his children and especially being “Poppa” to his grandchildren was his greatest joy and center of his life in his final years.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 11:00 AM preceded by family visitation at 10:00 AM.  For those wishing to participate remotely, the service will be broadcast via a call-in phone line at the following number: 716-362-8992.  Use ID 24335#

    • I’m so sorry for this very difficult time loosing your husband your Dad , your Poppa your friend. We spent many happy times with cousin Jerry. Attending Youth functions and church activities and just hanging out. He always brought a smile and laughter to us. The many hours spent in the car listening to music and singing along brought such Joy to our hearts Jerry had a wonderful mellow tenor voice. He will be sorely missed.

  12. I remember Jerry from the time he & his Father, Ken, entered my life through Alice. A long time ago before he became the Big Brother to Calvin, Kyle & Keith. A very special family was shaped by and for Alice, a very special Friend, with her husband, Ken, a new and special friend, You boys have my sympathy in the loss of your Brother, Jerry.
