Naples, Florida: December 27, 2011, peacefully at the age of 84. Predeceased by his wife, Doreen Sluman. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Karen Sluman of Sarasota Florida, Brad and Denise Sluman of Pittsford New York and Jeffery and Linda Sluman of Hinsdale Illinois; grandchildren, Tarrah, Matthew, Tyler, Trevor and Katie Sluman; loving companion, Patty Carpenter; many nieces and nephews. George was a devoted father and husband who was an avid golfer throughout most of his life. He was retired from Kodak and a lifelong member of the Masonic lodge. For the last 17 years, George resided in Naples, Florida spending his days and nights with numerous friends at the country club. He will be remembered for unwavering support and positive attitude toward his family's goals and dreams. Friends may call, Tuesday, January 3rd, 4-8 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. Funeral services and entombment in Riverside Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Camp Good Days and Special Times in his memory.

    Thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your Dad. It may be a natural part of life, but it is very difficult to lose a parent. Though physically gone, your Dad will always be with you.

  4. I was so sorry to learn of George’s passing. He was one of the nicest people I ever had the privilege to know. I knew him from Barcrest Drive where Jeffrey used to hit golf balls in the backyard – right over the farmer’s orchard in back of us. As the paper said, he was a devoted husband & father..I always remember him saying ‘your’re absolutely right Doreen’ the reason they never had a fight….Love to all, Corinne

    I’m not sure if you’re dad wouldv’e remembered me in passing here in Naples or back in the days in Rochester. I remember him well as he was, and always will be my late stepfather, James Walsh’s best friend. I remember many wonderful stories about George as Jim would remind me of their special times shared. Lucky #7 I believe was what Jim called him. My condolences extend to all of your family and may time heal your hearts & fill them with wonderful memories. God Bless

  15. Wayne, Brad, Jeff, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. George was a special man and boy did we all have some fun with him and Doe. They opened their hearts and home to me in a time of need. Never to be forgotten. I am sorry that is the way we had to all be together last night but I loved seeing all of you and your beautiful family’s. It makes me realize how much I miss all of you and all the great times. Doe is putting on her lipstick and fixing her hair waiting to great him. Heaven will be smiling & rockin tonight.
