Donald J. “Don” Schuster Don was born on January 2, 1952 and passed away on February 4, 2024. He is survived by his wife Judy; children Kristin (Kevin; Rochester, NY), Kevin (Crystie; Longmont, CO), and Daniel (Alison; Glendale, CA); grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan; brother Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and numerous good friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Josephine, and brother James. Don grew up in Johnstown, PA and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He moved to Rochester to work as a chemist for Eastman Kodak, working in the Synthetic Chemicals and Solvent Coating departments during his 34-year career. It was at Kodak where Don met Judy and had the “Kodak Moment” that started their story that lasted for more than 45 years. Don suffered a spinal cord injury in 2008 and was diagnosed with cancer in November 2023. He loved to move (run, bicycle, drive, travel, or just cruise around in his motorized wheelchair) and was an example for many as he battled his health challenges with courage and determination. Don was his children’s biggest fan at their athletic and musical events, sang to his grandchildren to make them smile, and cherished every minute he spent with his family. Please contact the family directly for service information. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the charity of one’s choice in his memory.

I’ve worked with Kristin for 15 years, and based on her passion, wonderful work ethic, and exemplary character, I know that Mr. Schuster must have been an incredible man and father! I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope that the many great memories with him help ease the sorrow. Sincerely, Steve Fernaays
