Greece: Thursday, September 3, 2009. Predeceased by her parents, Paul & Bertha; brother, Gerald. Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Knitter; sons, Joe Knitter, Rob (MaryKay) Knitter; daughters, Sandy (Mike) Doherty, Jan Carroll, Mary Knitter; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Friends may call Tuesday (Sept 8th) 4-7 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday (Sept 9th) 9:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Ridge Road. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

  1. Aunt Delores – I wish I wasn’t here writing this but I know how tough it’s been lately and how hard you fought to stay – but now you can be at peace. I will always remember so fondly the great family gatherings – you and Uncle Bob, Aunt Grace & Uncle Elmer, Mom, Dad and all of us kids – it was a wonderful time in our lives – I treasure those memories.     I have always remembered Mrs. Knitter during my years growing up as a kid on Haddon Road.

    I will never forget the Knitters for helping my family when my mom & dad (Frank & Katharina Waldron) were ill and passed away.

We always managed to stay in touch at least at Christmas & always looked forward to notes from Dolores.
