    Jon

  4. Carlos and Dawn, Our hearts are raw and we are filled with grief. Too many unanswered questions. We are here and will always be there for you. We love you.

  5. Carlos and Dawn, we are so very sorry for your tragic loss. Remember the good times and know that he is at peace now.

  6. Dear Samantha, I offer my sincere apology for calling you by the wrong name in my note of sympathy. I am so sorry. My heart and head were heavy with sadness as I wrote.
Being Derek’s little sister gave him all those rights to tease you and remind you that you were just a girl and younger, too. Remember some of those times and know that he loved you very much or he would have ignored you.
Let your family and friends hug and help you.
They need to so that they can show their love and also to gain some of your strength. May Almighty God bless you and keep you in His arms.

  7. Dear Wendy and Family,
I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

    Blessings,
    Diane Putnam-Reed

  8. Dearest Dawn, Carlos & Family,
We can’t put into words the pain we know you are experiencing right now.. Our prayer is that GOD will guide you through this life knowing that ‘Time’ is a relative term & we can’t measure anyone’s worth & importance by the number of years they have spent with us on this earth. The important thing to remember is the beautiful memories he left all of you, and of course the gift of his beautiful son ~ Carlos Jr. who by the way has his eyes..
We know that this journey we have to travel is not an easy one, but there is a purpose, GOD knows, we will never know ‘WHY’ our loved one has left us so young, except to say that it’s the mark he left behind on all of you, and the people he touched in his life time..
We will be close to you, we will come & see you all soon.
    With Love,
    The Chasman’s ~ Heather, Michael, & Alex

  9. Derek we write this with a lump in our throats, maybe even tears in our eyes. It’s a very sad time for us ,God has called you back home. We say good-bye nephew, hold fast to Gods hand & he will lead you safely through all trials. He will gently wipe the tears from your eyes and give you hope for better times.God is your keeper giving you eternal rest,we know he must be pleased because, he chose our very best. The memories that we will remember of you will, always put a smile on our faces. You will always be in our hearts. We love you & will miss you, may you always rest in peace. Uncle JR Aunt Linda

  10. Derek, Although we never met; I know your
many good things about you and your family. You and Carlos have helped Mike keep his house together. Mike will be there to
walk and talk with Carlos, Dawn, Stephanie and Joey. Watch over us and know that you
are missed.May the peace of the Lord be with all who love you and may the love of the Lord fill our hearts and help us to recall all the good times that were shared with you. Rest in the arms of Our Lord and find your peace.

  11. Derek, I’m so sorry that we weren’t close the way family should be. We had a moment or two when we were kids but nothing as we got older. It’s something that I’ll always regret, more so now. I will be there on Friday to say my final goodbye to you but instead of goodbye, it’ll be a ‘see you later’.

  12. Derek,
Almost 5 months have passed. This is not getting any easier. We ache for you, brat!
Pushing forward…. always thinking about you. xoxoxox

  13. Derek,
I remember when you were just a baby and my Grandmother (Nancy) babysat you.. I loved you and your name that I even named a child after you. That child did not make it into this world sadly. Know that you have touched many people. May you rest in peace.

  14. Derek,
Its so hard to wrap my head around it all. A million thoughts racing and so many amazing memories pouring in. And the one thing that constantly remains vivid is your heart-warming smile. It has been about six years since we last spoke, but not a day went by that I wasn’t wondering, hoping and praying for you. Normally I can find a song, a quote or poem to help express what i’m feeling inside, but this time, this feeling is indescribable. There were so many things left unsaid. You are a very, very special person to me, and only a few certain people really knew that. Since the day I met you, you’ve held a special piece of my heart and you always will…..I will never forget my first love.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Derek’s family. May he rest in peace and help look after those who need him.

    Love You Always.

    Mrs. Kathi O’Leary

  16. I remember Derek when he was a little baby, my mom babysat Derek for years. She loved Derek very much and the feeling was mutual. He was a sweet, beautiful little boy who always had a sly smile on his face. I hadn’t seen Derek since he moved away but I would always ask his grandparents how was doing. I am so saddened by the news of Derek’s passing, my heart breaks for the family. He will be remebered in his hometown Rennselaer Falls. Keep in mind that he is not alone, once again Nancy is watching him.

  17. I will always remember you as one of the best hide and seek players when you were little in Rennselear Falls, you were always able to find the best hiding places. I remember those awful chicken pox, too. My thoughts and prayers for all who loved you. You will be sorely missed. Aunt Laurie

  18. I will always remember you as one of the best hide and seek players when you were little in Rennselear Falls, you were always able to find the best hiding places. I remember those awful chicken pox, too. My thoughts and prayers for all who loved you. You will be sorely missed. Aunt Laurie

  21. Uncle Carlos, and Aunt Dawn, i’m so sorry for your loss. I miss and love you both, and you and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  22. We’ve been neighbors long wnough to know what a great person ou are Derek. It’ll never e the same without you in this world. Bryan is going to be lonely without you to respond to him when he talks to you. As we grieve closely with Ashley, we couldnt have been luckier with you as our neighbor. You were suppose to be the best man in our wedding this July, and you still will be, riding high on Bryans right shoulder. We love you so much Derek, and miss you more then ever. We’ll be here with Ashley and Carlos til the end of time. And when we’re fishing this summer, we’ll know youre catching the good ones! Rest in Peace Derek, and wait at the pearl white gates of heaven for us to join with you.

  23. When I first met you, Derek, you were the cutest little guy. Your dark brown eyes danced with expression. You came sliding across the kitchen floor, full of fun, smiles and energy. Your mom’s voice so full of love and pride when she told us your name. Over the next several years, you grew into a very handsome young man. You will be sadly missed by all who loved you, Derek. May you rest in peace, Grama Sherry

  24. WILL ALWAYS HOLD FOND MEMORIES OF DEREK IN OUR HEARTS. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE REST OF THE FAMILY.

  25. With grief in my heart and tears in my eyes I recall the times you spent at our house and at the ‘Youth for Christ’ functions. I remember when you first asked Jesus into your heart; how happy and proud you were. (Derek, I just wished I could have done more for you). You had become like a grandson to me and you’ll ALWAYS have a special spot in my heart. Like others have said about your beautiful smile; I can see that same smile now as you rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus. Your friend always, Carol

  26. Words, however kind, can’t mend your heartache: but those who care and share in the loss of Derek, wish you comfort and peace of mind. May you find strength in the love of family, the warm embrace of friends, and the wonderful memories of you and Derek together. I’ll always remember Derek as a kid chasing Jake around the neighborhood after he got loose and the smile on his face each and every time he had to play that game. I’ll also remember him years later as a fine young man helping me with roof repairs, well-mannered, hard-working, friendly and still smiling. Derek will be missed but not forgotten. Peace be with you, Mike

  27. You will always be in my heart Derek…
I remember you when you were a little boy & my mother babysat you. Deepest sympathies to your family.
