Albert H. Rehn
September 17, 1924 ~ April 28, 2010
Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Rehn; daughters, Susan Rehn McHugh, Eileen Rehn, Sheila Rehn Jones; grandchildren, Miles D. McHugh, Laura L. Jones, Shaun M. Jones, Christopher G. Jones.
Born and raised in Boston, MA, an honored World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a long-time resident of Rochester, NY. He was a mechanical engineer for Eastman Kodak and an adjunct professor at RIT for 31 years, taught in the Greece Continuing Education system, and hosted his own radio show. Al was an active member of the Golden Link Folk Society, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Irish Musicians' Association of Rochester, and the Park Avenue Playboys. Above all, he loved his family, is loved by many, and will be missed by all.
No prior calling. His graveside service will be held Tuesday 1:00 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, please meet at the Dewey gate.

Al Rehn was the first Irish musician I heard perform and got to know after coming to Rochester in 1966. He was a fine, gentle, warm and friendly person for whom I have much respect and affection. I will miss him. His passing is a great loss to our music community.
Al was a fixture at Golden Link. We will miss him.
Al will surely be missed by Golden Link. He was one of the first people I met when I joined in the 70’s. He was a good musician and had good taste in music. His show on WGMC was very special. Let the good memories carry us through such a sad time.
Dear Mary & Family,
I was so blessed to have so many opportunities to play music with Al many years ago. All our gigs at McGinnity’s and other events back in the late 70’s/early 80’s have remained as very happy memories as I look back on my life. Al was the one of the most kind and gentle people I’ve ever known. I was most impressed by the way he treated people – we should all follow his example. Most important, Mary, he loved you so dearly. He spoke so wonderfully of you all the time – you were so very special to him – what a love story. I’m keeping you in my heart and prayers. May God Bless you always. Love, Nancy

I’m so sorry to hear we lost Al. Although I had not played music with him very often, I always held him in very high regard, not only as a musician, but also as a wonderful person. We will miss a great veteran, and an exceptional man. You have my deep sympathy!

My sincere condolences, Mary. Al will be greatly missed. He was a legend in his own time. I’ve known and admired Al ever since the Gaelic Gathering days back in the seventies, and the last visit I had with him was in John Dady’s recording studio where we played some tunes together for the Comhaltas CD. He was always a man of music and one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.
My thoughts go out to you, Mrs. Rehn, and your family. I remember how many times Al would leave a Golden Link meeting early saying he wanted to go home to you. I never wanted to hear anyone else sing ‘The Unicorn Song’ after I heard him. He was very special.
So sorry to hear of Al’s passing. He was a bright voice and spirit in the Rochester Folk community. I will always remember his very generous personality and his knowledge of a million songs. He was a wonderful man. He will be missed.
