Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

Rochester:  Friday, December 27, 2024 at age 71.  Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Charlie Carpenter.  Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Rosanne of 43 years; his wonderful daughters, Erika Carpenter and Natalie Bradshaw (Chris); as well as his adorable new grandson, Austin; his siblings, Gene Hardy (Floyd), Joan Ryan, Marcy Bergman, Louis Carpenter (Sharon Thomas) He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him; family, friends and beloved cat, Bellie.

Charlie was employed with Eastman Kodak for over 35 years.  He worked in many divisions over the years & was able to travel the world for the company. He was a graduate of Clarkson College with a master’s in mechanical engineering.

Charlie was an avid sportsman on and off the field. He played hockey in many leagues in Rochester, as well as in high school & college. He loved softball and played in Kodak Leagues over the years as well as fast-pitch men’s softball teams. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and basketball. He was very excited when the time came, and he could coach his two daughters in softball. He and Rosanne enjoyed antiquing, and you would often find them on weekend adventures looking for the next great treasure. Collecting model cars as well as driving his Corvette and watching Nascar Racing were also his favorite past-times. Time spent with family and friends were really what brought him joy in retirement. Relaxing on the deck reading a book, sitting by the fire pit or floating in the pool were always the first choice.

Friends may call Friday (Jan 3rd) 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, where his family service will be held at 5:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Strong Memorial Palliative / Hospice Care in his memory.

Our friendship started when we coached our daughter’s softball teams together over 20 years ago . It continued through many rounds of golf , with laughter and fun . Especially when Charlie would say his same corny golf jokes over and over ! Even through his many neck and back surgeries he fought to regain his ability to stay active . I know he has suffered for many years and glad he is not suffering anymore . My thoughts and prayers go out to the family .

To Charlie’s family, so sorry for your loss. I had the good fortune to play a lot of softball with him for Kodak and lost track of each other over the years. He was a great athlete but an even better person and friend, great memories of our times together. Thought and prayers to all.

    Death Is Nothing At all
    By Henry Scott-Holland

    Death is nothing at all.
    It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
    Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that
    we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
    somewhere very near,
    just round the corner.

    All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
