Paul George Reiss (88), passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, in Rochester, NY. Paul was known professionally by his first name and as George to his family and friends. He shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with his late wife, Marietta Reiss, before her passing in September of 2012.

He was born on September 20, 1936. Paul proudly served in the Army from 1953 to 1956, dedicating three years to his country during a pivotal time in history.  He embarked on a diverse career path as a salesman, before eventually owning and operating Paul Reiss Lawncare (Florida), until his retirement in 2005. Upon retiring, he and his wife Marietta returned and settled back into New York.

A member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Paul was committed to his faith. He was an avid reader, solving crossword puzzles, and volunteering a few years at Unity Hospital. Many knew of his lifelong unwavering fan-hood of both the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. 

Paul was the beloved husband of Marietta (Castricone) Reiss for 54 years until her passing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine (Whelehan) Shoemaker; his father, Albert Reiss; his stepfather, Benjamin Shoemaker; his sisters, Joan Moriarity, Patricia Reiss; and his brother, Benjamin C. Shoemaker. Paul is survived by his daughters, Monica (Robin) Charcholla, Janine (Steve) Pajek, and Jolene (Michael) Mingoea; grandchildren, Rory, Ryan, Alex, Jorden, Nicole, Brandon, Salvatore, Annessa, and Grace; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Loreen (Don) Myers and Chris (Charlie) Laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

No prior calling. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (Oct 28th) 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Greece. Private interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the a veterans organization of your choice in his memory.

    So sorry to hear about your Dad. Your parents were both good neighbors to our parents when they lived next door to us on West Ave in Brockport so many years ago.
