David W. Gielow With profound sadness, we notify family and friends of Dave Gielow’s peaceful passing to eternal life on January 15, 2022, at the age of 66. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents William & Mary Gielow, his brothers, Robert & William Gielow, his sister, MaryAnn Maybee, and his beloved lab, Major. Dave graduated from St John Fisher College and worked for Square D Schneider Electric for almost 30 years. Dave cherished his many friendships throughout his walks of life. He loved the outdoors, fishing and walking along the river with his adored Mario and Gizmo. Dave’s abundant love for God’s creatures was apparent as he daily fed the birds and chipmunks in his backyard. Dave’s legacy is his son Ben Gielow who emulates his loving & proud father. Their close relationship was shared on the golf course and baseball field. They were avid baseball & football fans and loved a good movie. Dave was looking forward to the May wedding of Ben and his amazing fiancée Katelyn Vilasi. Dave’s wife Diane was blessed to be loved by a gentle and kind husband and life partner. Dave was caring, humble, compassionate, and known for his quick-wit. Dave will be remembered for loving the simple things in life and his dedication to family and friends. Stepsons, John Dixon (Krystal), Justin Dixon & Jason Dixon (Miranda) and step grandchildren were comforted knowing Dave was in their Mom’s life and they were the welcome recipients of his unconditional love & support as their stepfather. David’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated January 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave 14612. Livestreaming will be available through holycrossrochester.org. I was so sorry when I heard about Daves passing, and I am so glad I saw him briefly at Billys gathering. My sympathy to his wife Diane and to his son Ben and his fiancée Katelyn, as well as all of his friends and family. Diane and family – today when I found out how quickly this happened, I was overwhelmed and saddened. Though we didn’t spend much time with you and dave, I remember him as a wonderful, gentle, funny , and incredibly loving kind man. I am so sorry for your loss, Diane. Today hearing your stories made me feel like I was right there. I am sorry I am in florida or I would be right by your side. I am so sorry for the loss of Dave. He worked for Channel Sales at Square D and I had the pleasure of having him on my team back in the mid 90’s. He truly had a great wit about him and nothing upset him. Please accept my sadness and prayers for your entire family. With warmth, Nora Shelley
Dave was my first husband and my son Ben’s father. He was always there to lend a hand for a friend, to help someone when they needed it. Although we parted many years ago, we still saw eachother at Ben’s baseball games. He was a great coach and father. I have many great memories of Dave starting back to 1974 when we met during our summer jobs, working the Dessenex foot powder line at Penwalt Parmaceuticals. He kept all our co-workers laughing with his funny stories and antics. My nieces recall him talking to them in a Daffy Duck voice and reducing them to severe laughing fits. In later years, Dave would stop in to see my elderly parents and visit with them. They always enjoyed his company. And I appreciated his visits to them so much. Diane, I am glad that he found you and spent so many years by your side. Just as I appreciate how your family sort of adopted Ben, I’m glad Dave sort of adopted your family. You have my sincerest condolences with his passing. May you find comfort knowing he lived and loved so many people and made so many good memories for so many. May he rest in peace. I can picture him taking a very long walk with his beloved Major, in search of elusive pheasants in the golden fields of Heaven. With love, Barb Cook
This world will not funny without you in it. You were so hysterical, and both Dave and I loved working with you at Square D. Your paperclip throwing at Ellen, “popping” noises, and naming Ellen (“buttface”) as Groundhog Queen are some memories of why we loved you. Rest well Dave. Peace and light to Ben and Diane.
I knew Dave for years working @ Square D. Loved his dry sense of humor. My condolences to all his family/friends.
